Thoughts: I have been following news of the Galaxy Note 8 since rumours about it few months ago. Early July rumours, Samsung’s next Unpacked event is arriving right on schedule on 23rd August, 2017 where all signs point to it bringing the Galaxy Note 8 along for the ride.
Soon after the unveiling of the Note 8 few days ago, on 25th checking up on Samsung Malaysia website, published the Pre-Order of the Note 8 in Malaysia starting September 5 to 10 next month. It's definitely counting down for me to place an order.
Despite letting go the Note 3 last year traded-in for the S7, I have become attached to the S7 camera capabilities especially close-up shoots (you do get some bokelicious depending on the background subjects distance), as well as its general "low light" possibilities! In fact, last trip to Hong Kong, I left the EM1 at the hotel and only shoot with the S7 on the streets of Hong Kong. Of course, I could have acheive better results with the EM1 on certain street scenes but I enjoy shooting with the S7 due to its convenience and people on the streets generally don't mind a phone camera over a real camera.
The costs of the new Note 8 is at $3999, but the Pre-Order offers a discount package worth $888. Where the Cash Rebate itself is $321 which makes the costs of the new Note 8 at $3678. Samsung Galaxy S8 is now priced at $3299, while the S8 plus at $3699. The Pre-Order price of the new Note 8 makes it an interesting buy! The $888 discount packages also comes with plus-1 year protection, 5100 mAH battery pack, and Clear Cover. The plus-1 year protection is certainly a good deal for coverage of accidents and damage, an extended warranty and a replacement phone if you need one. (of course there are fine lines you have to read in the web-site to see what this is all about).
There may be a lot of similarities between the S8 plus and the new Galaxy Note 8, but a few things right out of Note 8 is its Dual Camera with Optical Stabalization as well as wide-angle and 2x-Optical zoom on a 12 megapixel F1.7 lens camera; there is also an interesting Pro-Mode and Food-Mode! One thing for sure (in my opion), phones on camera today may have very interesting technologies but it likely still not able to replace the professional cameras for a photography enthusiast and professional photographers. But, even for me as a midly photograph enthusisast, I have been leaving behind my Olympus EM1 back at home for awhile for the convenience and "easy-to-carry around" of the S7. But obviously photographing events, macors like dragonflies still cannot do without my EM1 and its special lens. Still, I don't mind doing street photography with a phone camera although certain "feelings" and "moods" can only be acheived via a real camera.
And my favorite would be the S-Pen which I am missing from my "sold" Note 3 last year for the S7. I have not read all new feactures of the S-Pen capabilities on the new Note 8, but one thing that I like is the writing on the screen even without un-locking the phone which makes note taking on the fly much easier comparing to the Note 3. Some other interesting features are "magnifying", "annotation", "translate", and "glance" which is difficult to assess until one tries the feature physically on the note 8.
The new Note 8 comes with following specifications:
4 Colors: mid-night black, deep-sea blue, orchid gray, maple blue

Widht: 195 gram
