Thoughts: It's more than 4 months (120 days) from surgery, I am thinking on no more seafood restrictions. It's first time 蝦餃 Har Gao & 吓肠粉 Prawn rice noodle for such a long interval. Every plate seems more delicious than before; I would have given a 6 / 10 last time but today's Dim Sum seems better than ever! LOL!
Hoong Foong has been here for such a long time (maybe 20 years), even before the USJ 21's abandoned structures (more than 10 years by irresponsible develops who fled the project since 2001) was reconstructed by Bina Putra into Main Place (re-opened in 2015). Since MP's opening almost 3 years ago, USJ 21 has suddenly become a 旺 "ONG" place where many of the shops now rented out for business and there is even a shop converted to Kindergarten; few hotels, more eateries, cafes etc etc. And illegal parking now causing traffic problems around this area from before 2015's almost very quiet corner of USJ.
Hoong Foong was already doing business here since even before the abandoned structure of MP starting construction before 2001! From a one shop only doing mainly weekend Dim Sum to now 2 shop lots doing All-day Dim Sum until 10pm, good for USJ residents who also like a late night supper on Dim Sum nearby. Do come as early as 7am where free MPSJ parking spaces are still ample (after 9am, MPSJ rounding people still parked illegally everywhere but that's your own risk). Hoong Foong offers a $2 discount on the total bill if you show your Main Place Parking ticket. (that's 2 hours of parking fee at MP)
The middle age man running the show at Hoong Foong is very forward looking as he nows has implemented ordering of Dim Sum via a tablet, self-service counters for certain Dim Sum plates; while the old system of Dim Sum Carts are still there doing its rounding in the shop. That's why Hoong Foong has survived over 20 years here at USJ 21 while many other nearby Dim Sum Restaurants around USJ all closed; it is now the only restaurant selling Dim Sum. The only other Dim Sum left around USJ area is at Damen, the very expensive 大港中菜 Grand Harbor Restaurant which serves both Dim Sum (limited choice) and Chinese Cuisine.
