Thoughts: "大港飯 Nasi Dagang" or "商人飯 Trader's rice" is a traditionally 馬來西亞東海岸 East Coast Malaysian dish consisting of rice steamed in coconut milk, fish curry and extra ingredients such as pickled cucumber and carrots. It is a breakfast food in the states on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia (登嘉樓州 Terengganu, 吉蘭丹州 Kelantan, 彭亨州部分地區 parts of Pahang and 柔佛州東部 Eastern Johor), southern Thai Malay provinces as well as across the Indonesian border in some parts of the Island. 

A trip of the the East Coast isn't complete without savoring both the Nasi Dagang and Nasi Kerabu! Today's breakfast is a rm$4 super affordable "大港飯 Nasi Dagang" with the typical Nasi Kukus with a piece of Fish and salad pickled cucumber and carrots on the side.

Thoughts: 3 friends from 柔佛 Johor, 登嘉樓 Terengganu, 森美蘭 Negeri Sembilan often drink at the 嫲嫲檔 Corner Mamak at USJ16 decided to open this Malay Café called "Membawang". The word "Membawang" from google search is "Istilah membawang dikatakan membawa maksud bergosip, mengumpat atau satu perbuatan memperkatakan tentang orang lain" (Like "Makcik Membawang" means 阿姨八卦 a group women come together to gossip! ORRR "Tabiat membawang di pejabat" means 辦公室八卦 Office Gossips). 

Today is the official opening of "Membawang" at a corner shop lot replacing "FYLLO" (Opal Green Tea

茶葉店), the new Malay Eatery offers varieties of Malay food:

Weekday mornings: Nasi Lemak, Lontong, Roti Jala, Tapai, Roti Bakar etc 

Weekend mornings: The above + Nasi Dagang as of now

Lunch times: Nasi Campur, Nasi Bryani 

Dinner times: Tomyam, Western food

Today's breakfast is a rm$10 "大港飯 Nasi Dagang" which comes with excellent 椰香飯 steamed coconutty flavored rice, some 沙拉 salads (pickled cucumber and carrots) on the side, 巴鰹魚 Ikan Tongkol or Mackarel Tuna, plus 咖哩 curry and 辣叁巴 spicy sambal on the side, topped with a 紅辣椒 red chili. The combination is perhaps as excellent as it can be as those of 正宗的東海岸風味 Authentic East Coast taste. 

大港飯 Nasi Dagang, the Malay word Dagang" means "商人 Traders",  could have originated from the dish concocted by the early traders for their packed provision while plying their trades at the time, hence the name of the dish that has stuck until today. and it is likely created by the 登嘉樓馬來人 Terengganu Malays. The dish is now a popular breakfast item in 泰國南部 Southern Thailand, the East Coast of 登嘉樓 Terengganu and 吉蘭丹 Kelantan. "大港飯 Nasi Dagang (Traders Rice)"

Thoughts: Highly recommended for those who are looking for authentic (I think) East Coast food such as 藍花飯 Nasi Kerabu, 大港飯 Nasi Dagang, or 馬來傳統炸魚餅 Lekor! 

Breakfast today is a rm$8 "大港飯 Nasi Dagang" which comes with warm 蒸米飯 Nasi Kukus plus 黃瓜條 cucumber and 胡蘿蔔條 carrot sticks, not forgetting a large piece of "金槍魚 Ikan Tongkol"; several 咖哩汁 curry gravy choices are available (which are self-service).

SS6's "Azlin's Kitchen" is a Hidden Gem of East Coast cuisine in Kelana Jaya, the single shop lot isn't visible from the trunk roads. You will have to navigate into the one-way streets around the many rows of shop lots here and find your parking at back-lanes of one of the row of shop lots and walk to the YELLOW themed restaurant. 

Looking forward to sampling Azlin's Kitchen's 藍花飯 Nasi Kerabu!
