Thoughts: Last here was May 2.2023 for their regular Wanton Mee at rm$6. Price for the same plate is now at rm$7! The plate today comes with:

The rm$1+ seemed to comes with additional "水煮雲吞 Wanton (3粒)" compared to the last visit almost 1.5 yeas ago! Not sure if it is the official name, but this "(母子雲吞麵) Mother & Son Wanton Mee" stall has been serving wanton mee for maybe more than 40++ years now at Penang's 沓田仔街 Carnarvon Road at the Junction to 牛干冬街 Chulia Street, the road side stall is also just opposite 西南茶室 Xi Nan Cafe (Kopitiam).

Thoughts: 牛干冬街 Lebuh Chulia, formerly Chulia Street, is one of the oldest street in 喬治市 George Town, Penang and dating back to the late 18th century. starting with 英國殖民統治 British colonial rule which encouraged Indians to migrate to 檳城 Penang. In the early days, it is the 印度伊斯蘭 Muslim Indians that congregate around this area and therefore, hence the name. Due to its length, part of it is within the core zone of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site, until the junctions of 畓田仔 Carnavon Street and 孖水喉 Love Lane,

Chulia Street is also well-known as a food paradise within Penang, due to the numerous hawker stalls and restaurants along the street that serve local cuisine. AND one of the popular hawker stall is this one called "母子雲吞麵 Mother And Son Wonton Mee Stall"! The road side stall, originally standing along Chulia street is now on Lebuh Carnavron; and opposite 西南茶室 Xi Nan Café.

Operated by a Mother and Son(s) team, the local Penangites agree that this is one of the best Wanton Mee in all of Penang. The rm$6 plate comes with Springy and chewy 餛飩麵 wantan noodles as ought to be which is mixed with savory dark soy sauce. Topped with deep-fried 鬆脆豬油渣 crunchy pork lards, along with slices of 紅叉燒肉片 Red Char Siew, and 肉餡油炸餛飩 meat-filled deep fried wantans, plus some greens and 青辣椒 pickled green chillies on the side; definitely a likable plate of wanton mee.
