This stall is run by 哥打京那巴鲁 Kota Kinabalu native Pricilla Jude Wang whose beef noodles are based on a family recipe. The family recipe's beef broth has a milder herbal taste. The 沙巴人 Sabahan, Madam Wang first step foot to West Malaysia more than 20 years ago when she relocated to Seremban. She worked in the Corporate world and after her retirement, she and her husband moved to Subang Jaya about 7 years ago. Bored with life as a retiree, she decided to start her own little Beef Noodle stall. Wang's beef noodle have to be the best Beef noodle in USJ.

Thoughts: Last visit here was 2 weeks ago, today's breakfast is to sample beef noodle again but today is the rm$11 "干撈牛雜粉 Dry mixed Beef Noodle", price is about double that of a typical bowl of noodle in town (rm$6.50 to rm$7), but this one today at rm$11 is well worth the price. The dry noodle comes with slightly salty with dark sauce 濑粉 Lai Fun, garnished with green onions and fried onions; and another bowl is beef broth with generous amount of 牛雜 mixed beef and 牛丸 beef ball.

So far, not disappointed with the beef noodle offered here, and perhaps shall sample the "紅燒牛腩飯 Beef Stew Brisket rice" or "擂茶 Lui Char" next time. 

Fun Facts: "Why do many Buddhist do not eat Meat or what is the story?" In General, the food that a strict Buddhist takes is not just no meat of any kind but even include avoid consuming strong-smelling plants, specifically 大蒜 garlic, 洋蔥 onion, 細香蔥 chives, 韭菜 leeks, and 青蔥 shallots, as these vegetables are thought to 增加性慾 increase sexual desire when eaten cooked and 增加憤怒 anger when eaten raw. 

For many Chinese Buddhists who also eat meat like chicken, duck or mutton, BUT just avoid consumption of 大型動物 large animals (such as Cow) and 野生動物 exotic species is avoided. And in Buddhism, there is also this concept of "三淨肉 Three Pure Meats" and the theory is basically not to have any animals killed for your own satisfaction. The idea also further says that one can consume the meat with the following 3 criteria:

沒有看見 that you did not see the animal being killed

沒有聽可信人說 that you did not hear the animal being killed

不懷疑為了自己而殺死的動物之肉類 that you did not ask someone to kill the animal for your consumption purpose

In China and maybe Thailand, Buddhist monks and nuns have depended on 賴施捨食物 almsfood. They were, and still are, prohibited from growing their own food, storing their own provisions or cooking their own meals (and this is also likely the result of the "三淨肉 Three Pure Meats" rule. Instead, every morning they would make their day's meal out of whatever was freely given to them by lay supporters. Whether it was 肥糧 rich food or 粗糧 coarse food, 好吃 delicious or 難吃 awful tasting it was to be accepted with gratitude. The Buddha laid down several rules forbidding monks from asking for the food that they liked. As a result, they would receive just the sort of meals that ordinary people ate - and that was often meat.

Example is that "If you kill the fish yourself and then cook and eat it", then that is a violation but to Eat cooked fish prepared by some other people is not a violation! So, the 化缘所得的食物 food obtained by Buddhist monks cannot be discriminated even if it is not vegetarian, as long as the meat given follows the "三淨肉 Three Pure Meats" rule. And this is a possible reason that some Buddhist still  consume meat and in 佛法教導 Dharma Teachings, there are also no restrictions about Meat consumption!

"So, then, why do some Buddhist do not consume Beef"? Some Chinese who pray to the "觀世音菩薩 Guan Yin Bodhisattva" do not consume Beef because the folklore says that the 觀世音 GuanShiYin (Goddess of Mercy) was reincarnated from a Cow, and therefore to eat Beef means disrespect of the 觀音 Guan Yin Goddess. Another saying is that Cow are useful to human as the animal often help out in the 稻田 Padi fields, and therefore out of respect the Cows should not be eaten. This kind of practice may also be due to influence from 印度文化 Indian Culture as Buddhism being an ancient Indian religion.

Such a practice is certainly deeply rooted among Buddhist in 新加坡 Singapore and 馬來西亞 Malaysia. But, there may be parts of 中國華北和西北部 North and North Western China and particularly 西藏 Tibet, devotees of the Goddess of Mercy are often said to be not aware of such restriction. Buddhists of the 蒙 Mongolian, 藏 Tibetan, and 傣族佛教徒 Dai nationalities in China, who believe in 大乘佛教 Dacheng Buddhism, all eat meat because meat is plentiful than vegetables as the land they live are not conducive for vegetable growth. In fact, according to many articles in the web, 藏族僧人 Tibetan monks mostly eat the 大型動物的肉 meat of large animals, because large animals contain more 蛋白質 protein and 較高的能量 higher energy. This way, they can avoid killing more small animals and fewer animals. They don't eat 馬肉 horse meat, 驢肉 donkey meat, or 狗肉 dog meat, but will eat mostly red meats of 牛肉 beef and 羊肉  mutton. 

宗教與動物的道德地位 Religion and the Moral status of Animals have always been a sensitive and difficult question to ponder. But at the end, many people really don't eat certain meat due to many reasons and many are also because of 健康 Health and 經濟原因 Economic reasons, and not just about 宗教 Religion or 文化壓力 Cultural Pressures.

Thoughts: Last here was June 16, last year! And last having 江記雲吞麵 Kong Kee's Wanton Mee was more than 1 year ago in March 18 last year. There was also I think One case of a resident who was tested positive for the coronavirus disease by Subang Perdana Goodyear Court 2 in September 2020 last year. 

But today at Goodyear Court 2's Restoran NSV, it was busy as before with at least 13 stalls operating in the kopitiam which includes 粿条湯 Kuey Teow Soup (光頭佬), 板麵 Pan Mee, 小炒 Xiao Chao, 咖喱麵 Curry Mee, 豬腸粉釀豆腐 CheeCheong Fun YTF (ANN), 雞飯 Chicken Rice, 豬肉粉 Pork Noodle, 石磨腸粉 Shi Mo Cheong Fun, 炒粿条 Char Koay Teow, 雲吞麵 Wanton Mee (江記), 牛腩麵 Beef Noodle, 沙勞越麵 Kolo Mee, and even a stall selling 燒肉 Roasted Pork. Most if not all the familiar stalls have remain in business except i think the 餃子 Dumpling stall. 

Today's breakfast is the rm$9.50 排骨配雲吞叉燒雲吞麵 Pork Ribs Char Siew Wanton Mee by the popular 江記雲吞麵 Kong Kee Wanton Mee stall. Charsiew today wasn't their normal standard but the Pork Ribs was still not too bad, coupled with 2 pieces of medium size wanton; but did like the noodle with a good wanton mee sauce (not too sweet nor salty). 江記雲吞麵 Kong Kee Wanton Mee sets itself apart from other Wanton Mee stalls with its 招牌燒排骨雲吞麵 Signature Roasted Pork Rib Wanton Mee. Price of Wanton Mee are from rm$6.50 to rm$10 with various toppigs of either 叉燒 Charsiew, 燒肉 Roasted Pork, 排骨 Pork Ribs, 雞腳 Chicken Feet, 水餃 Sui Gao, 牛肉 Beef, 雞腿 Chicken Drumstick or 白雞 Steamed chicken.

USJ 1 Damen Mall - 陳明記麵家 Restoran Chan Meng Kee (蜜汁叉燒 Char Siew Wanton Mee and also like their beef wanton mee or 脆皮燒肉 Roasted pork)

USJ 1 Damen Mall - 怡保南香 Nam Heong Ipoh (offers good 叉燒燒肉 Char Siew or Siew Yoke Wanton Mee)

USJ 1 Regalia Business Centre - 新隆記燒臘館 Roasted Chef House (their roasted duck require booking but 叉燒 Charsiew and 燒肉 Roasted pork not bad)

USJ 6 Restoran NSV USJ 6 新海景餐馆 - 江記雲吞麵 Kong Kee Wanton Mee (should try the 排骨雲吞麵 Pork Ribs Wanton Mee here)

USJ 8 好年美食中心 Restoran Good Year - 成記云吞面 Seng Kee Wanton Mee (famous for its Soup/Dry Charsiew Wanton Mee and Chicken Feet)

USJ 9 Taipan 2 - 得記燒臘麵家 Restaurant Tek Kee (used to be a popular Wanton Mee destination and I think Steamed chicken and roasted pork good here)

USJ 10 Taipan - 亮記全蛋麵食家 Leung Kee Wanton Mee (the 白斬雞 Steamed chicken, 水餃 Sui Gao, and 雞腳 Chicken Feet is a must try)
