Thoughts: A Malaccan-born chef Don Daniel Theseira; then, with an initial investment of RM400,000, the first Uncle Don's was set up in Petaling Jaya's SS2, Mr Don created the slogan "Dine like a Don" where he has crafted a menu that confidently demonstrates his experience and capabilities, serving a $ friendly meal in a not too fancy but chill-out-look kind of restaurant setting. With the success of its first location in SS2, it soon gained momentum to progressively expand its presents in Klang Valley now with locations at IOI Boulevard, Sri Petaling, TTDI, Solaris Dutamas, Hartamas, Sri Petaling, Klang, Kota Damansara, and Taipan; and perhaps more to come.
Almost a dozen times visit to-date to USJ10's Uncle Don's (since its opening around September 2017 and at that time it's 5th outlet of Uncle Don's). After almost 2.5 years; still, a very popular eatery for residents of USJ area and I suppose there is also always something different to sample with lots of choose from Don's menu, besides the also quite affordable beer especially the ice-cold beers at round rm$10/mug! Was here before 12 noon even before it started taking orders and was empty, but soon the restaurant was filling up with customers fast with most coming for food and some come for the affordable ice-cold beers and wine.
I was curious at what netizens review of Uncle Don's and it does seem many come for the affordable beer and food. Some one recommended the Sizzling Sisig (a Philipo dish), the Grilled Pork Belly, and also the caloric intense "Spicy Bacon Pizza"; all of which are below rm$20. Perhaps worth another visit to Uncle Don's again, soon.
The "烤雞扒 Grilled Chicken Chop" at rm$14.80 comes in a set with drinks (ice lemon tea or coke) as well as ice-cream. The main comes with 1 large piece of well marinated and grilled chicken chop (albeit not too tender) with mushroom sauce, and on the sides were coleslaw and fries. While the "燉豬腳 Pork Leg Stew" was not on the set deal and it comes with Pork Leg Stew in a Claypot cooked with patato, belt pepper, and button mushroom slices; and you can have it with either rice or garlic bread. The fish crackers that came with the rice for the pork stew ware fantastic! Conclusion, both choices were not too bad!
