Thoughts: At 7:15am today: There are at least 8 stalls offering the following including 雲吞麵 Wanton Mee, 客家麵 Hakka Mee, 咖哩麵 Curry Mee, 馬來飯 Nasi Lemak Kukus, 豬肉粥/粉 Pork Noodle/Porridge, 蝦麵/怡保河粉 Har Mee/Ipoh Kuey Tiao, 肉干麵包 Bakwa bread, 雜齋飯麵 Vegetarian. USJ10 Taipan's 南京茶餐室 Nanking has already opened for Dine-in since August, and today is the rm$6 "客家大埔麵 Hakka Ta Pu Mee" by "英豪客家大埔麵". This is one of the long-standing hawker stall in the Kopitiam, offering  客家大埔麵 Hakka Ta Pu Mee and 客家老鼠粉 Hakka Rat Noodle.

There are probably not too many Kopitiam Noodle stalls offering a plate/bowl of noodle at rm$6 or lower, many are now at least rm$7 and or above. And a cup of Hot Teh/Kopi/Cham now at NanKing is now at rm$2 (an increase of rm$0.10) while a few Kopitiams are now charging rm$2.20 per cup! 英豪客家大埔麵's Hakka noodle comes in a plate with the Hakka style mixed with probably fish sauce (clear) and also garlic oil instead of the darker sauce typical of Wanton Mee. Topped with generous amount of minced pork and a few slices of charsiew plus lots of chopped green onions, on the side is a bowl of soup with bean curds plus the special Chinese sambal sauce.

Fun Facts: 客家麪 Hakka noodles, also known as "大埔麪 Dapu noodles or maybe Tai Poh Mee", is one of the representative noodle dishes of the 客家社區 Hakka community in Malaysia. It originated in  大埔縣 Dapu County, 省梅州市 Meizhou City, 廣東 Guangdong Province, 中國 China. Since young Chinese in Malaysia have little idea of 大埔 Tai Po, some businesses have changed "大埔麵 Tai Po noodles" into "客家麵 Hakka noodles" to attract more business. Over time, the term "客家麵 Hakka noodles" has replaced "大埔麵 Taipu noodles" and has become the name of the Chinese Malaysians for this noodle dish and can be found a a hawker stall in many Chinese Kopitiams.

Thoughts: So far, the Hakka Tai Po Mee by the "brothers" here at Nan King Kopitiam (USJ10) have not disappointed me. Food aside, It's an interesting eerie and quiet monday morning in Taipan, parking seems still easy going at 10am!
Not complaining the food but one thing noticed today that NanKing owner ought to do something about the stench outside or behind (maybe from the drain) of the restaurant as sooner or later MPSJ will be onto them again. Too bad some Chinese Kopitiam never try harder to be clean and i think many of them probably don't care!

Thoughts: I asked for possibly no soya sauce and no oil but the chef (hawker) said it would be impossible so we agreed on as little oil and soya sauce as possible. Well, that was perhaps a good call as the minced pork meat was still salty and I could still fell the "little" oil used to mix the noodle! This is yet one of those few stalls in Taipan still manned by a local Chinese and a Hakka, that is nice!

Review: Nan King at USJ 10 Taipan has been around for such a long time. Hakka Tai Po Mee still sells at $5, used to be $3.50 or $4 just 2 years ago. It's a small plate but for breakfast it is good enough. The Hakka Mee is very popular among residents here both Chinese and Indians. Good business here, usually have to wait a little bit longer than if you ordered from other hawkers here!
