Thoughts: This is the 3rd visit to SS16 Aeon Mall's J-Kissa, one of very few Authentic Japanese style Café in Klang Valley. Owned and run by Japanese Owner-Chef providing not just tasty food but excellent hospitality. 

The "北海道奶油燉肉 Hokkaido Cream Stew" was rm$18 for take-away lunch last year. Today's is again having the Cream Stew for lunch, at increased price of rm$20 but still worth every penny. The 北海道奶油炖菜 Hokkaido Cream Stew is one of the Chef's specialty; this 洋食 Yoshoku has a mix of 雞肉塊 chicken and assorted vegetables (荷包豆 poached beans, 土豆 potato, 玉米 corn, and maybe 洋蔥 onions), cooked in a smooth white home-made roux. The soup is served with assorted Japanese breads which can be refilled. The price up of rm$2 is perfectly ok because the meal now also comes with home-made 土豆沙拉 potato salad plus a 熱烤茶 Hot Hojicha drink. 

The "日式奶油燉菜 Japanese style Cream Stew クリームシチュー " also known as "ホワイトシチュー White Stew"; it is a popular soup in Japan especially on a chilly, winter evenings. The Cream Stew  “a Japanese adaptation of a western dish" (called 洋食 Yoshoku) which maybe started to appear after WWII. The recipe became so popular that Just like boxed curry, you can find Cream Stew Mix at Japanese grocery stores and convenient stores.

For all Main course, customer can have either Hot or Cold Black coffee with a rm$3 Add-on. 

Today's lunch also sample another J-Kissa's main course item which is the rm$20 "銀座咖哩飯 Ginza Curry Rice". Typical slightly sweet but thick Japanese style curry gravy with chicken meat, customer can choose steamed rice of 3 sizes (same price). Instead of boiled egg, the curry rice meal comes with 溫泉蛋 poached egg along with 自製大蒜辣椒醬 home-made garlic chili sauce plus 土豆沙拉 potato salad. 

After 3:30pm, the Café also offers "(小吃) おやつ Oyatsu Set" with several choices of 名古屋吐司 Nagoya Toast, 冰淇淋 Ice Cream, plus either Coffee or Tea. 

Today is also where COVID-19 restrictions are broadly lifted. This includes face masks will no longer be mandatory outdoors but wearing of masks is still required indoors, including in shopping malls and on public transportation.

Thoughts: J-Kissa (the "日本スタイルの喫茶店" or Japanese Style Coffee Shop" in SS16's AEON Big is now open for Dine-in (maybe a little bit more than 1 week now). And it is good to see that the 2nd floor where "JHUNT" is located, is now a little more vibrant than the last visit to AEON Big 2 weeks ago. 

For rm$8.80, you get to see the Japanese Chef-owner preparing the "法式咖啡 Cafe Au Lait" at your table. The 50-50 ratio coffee-milk was poured beautifully and expertly into the tea/coffee cup to create this unique French style coffee! 

With today's positive experience of J-Kissa's "法式咖啡 Cafe Au Lait", looking forward in the near future to sample the Cafe's 手工滴濾法咖啡 Hand Drip Coffee, 維也納咖啡 Vienna Coffee, 淡美式咖啡 Mild American Coffee, or the 冷萃咖啡 Cold Brew Coffee, maybe also with their Signature 銀座咖哩飯 Ginza Curry Rice! 

Fun Facts: "喫茶店" or きっさてん Kissaten, literally meaning "Tea Drinking Shop" is a Japanese-Style Tea drinking room or Coffee shop. "喫茶店" came about in Japan in the early 20th Century as a distinction from a Café in Japan, as Japanese Cafés had become places also serving alcohol with noise and celebration. A Japanese "喫茶店 Kissaten" was a quiet place to drink coffee and gathering places for writers and intellectuals. In urban areas like Kyoto or Tokyo, people frequent "喫茶店 Kissaten" for breakfast where they usually also have "西式早餐 western morning meals" of 厚吐司 thick toast, 煮雞蛋 boiled or 煎雞蛋 fried eggs, a piece of 火腿 ham or 培根 bacon, and a cup of 茶 啡tea or 咖啡 coffee. With popularity of まんが Manga (Japanese Comics) to the Japanese, there are also "まんが喫茶 Manga Kissa" where visitors can have access to extensive library of Manga. These new modern Kissa also have internet access and many have 私人小房間 private booths, and instead of Coffee; many Manga Kissa are equipped with 自動售貨機 Vending machines. "まんが喫茶 Manga Kissa" can be found in many Japanese Cities which operates 24 hours which has been a form of 低成本住宿 low costs accommodation option. And they also come with amenities such as 淋浴 showers and 互聯網接入 internet access in private booths, with the costs of maybe 1500 to 2500 Yen (rm$55 to rm$90) per night! 

Today's "法式拿鐵咖啡 Cafe Au Lait" is a French style coffee, the pronunciation of "Cafe Au Lait" is "Cafe Oh Lay"! It is different from a 拿鐵咖啡 Latte or 卡布奇諾 Cappuccino. First of all, 卡布奇諾 Cappuccino is made with even distribution (1:1:1) of 濃縮咖啡 Espresso, 蒸牛奶 Steamed Milk, and 泡沫牛奶 Foam Milk and the contents are layered distinctly. While the 拿鐵 Latte, comes with more milk blending the Espresso with the Steamed Milk, with the typical ratio for Espresso to Steamed Milk is about 1-to-2; which makes the 拿鐵 Latte has more Calories than the 卡布奇諾 Cappuccino due to the higher Milk ratio. The Latte is then topped with a layer of foam but much lesser foam compare to a Cappuccino! BUT Beware about ordering a Latte in 意大利 Italy as in Italian Latte means "milk" and so ordering a "Latte" in 意大利 Italy will get the customer 一杯牛奶 a glass of milk. And the correct name is "Caffellatte" or "Caffè Latte, as literally means "coffee and milk" in 意大利 Italy.

The 法式拿鐵咖啡 French style Cafe Latte or "歐蕾咖啡 Cafe Au Lait" is not the same as the American or the 意大利拿鐵咖啡 Italian Latte. "Lait" is 法文 French for "Milk", and "Au" in 法文 French having meaning of "to The" or "at The", so "歐蕾咖啡 Cafe Au Lait" means "Coffee plus Milk" in 法文 French. But the usual cup of creamy 法式咖啡加奶 French milk coffee is made with half of the coffee poured into half of hot milk, with a 1:1 ratio of Coffee to Milk. While a 意大利拿鐵咖啡 Italian Latte is made with a strong Espresso as the basis (and usually with a Coffee Machine); 歐蕾咖啡 Café Au Lait is made with brewed coffee which can be hand-poured or via the Coffee Machine, and usually less or no foam compared to the Latte.

Thoughts: Located at the 2nd floor of SS16's AEON Big are a series of "Japanese themed" shops offering mostly 來自日本的二手物品 Second Hand items (All from Japan) like 家具 Furniture, 小雕像 Figurines, 愛好物品 Hobby items, 餐具 Tableware, 日本傳統 Japanese traditional, 包包 Bags, 日本復古巷物品 Vintage Lane items, Camping 露營設備 Equipment, etc plus a 日式咖啡館 Cafe called "J喫茶 J-Kissa", and these shops I believe all belong to the same group of stores called "the 勿体無い MOTTAINAI Stores".
It is interesting to note that most of the products here are imported directly from Japan and are basically 日本二手產品 second-hand products, but some of them are new. This is consistent with the theme of 勿体無い (もったいない) MOTTAINAI which is "Not to Waste it", and that "Someone's waste is someone's Treasure". 勿体無い MOTTAINAI is a Japanese expression meaning "a sense of regret concerning waste when the intrinsic value of an object or resource is not properly utilized". The expression "勿体無い Mottainai!" can be uttered alone as an exclamation when something useful, such as food or time, is wasted, meaning roughly "哦，真是浪費 Oh, what a waste!"
The "日本回收店 recycle shop" called [J-Hunt] is the same group store as [J-Kissa], and its head office is in 愛知縣 Aichi prefecture. And [J-Hunt] opened on October 25, 2019 and [J-Kissa] started operation in June, 2020 which was just after MCO1.0 ended. There are quite a few good reviews about the 日本スタイルの喫茶店 Japanese Cafe [J喫茶 J-Kissa] in the internet by Japanese who are in Malaysia. The Café opens from 11am for lunch and dinner times, the Café will be ready for Dine-in again in 1-2 weeks time according to the friendly Japanese Chef. 

Today's lunch is the rm$5 "日本照燒雞肉雞蛋飯三明治 Teriyaki Chicken & Egg Rice Sandwich" with interesting 柚子(ゆず) Yuzu dressing plus, 日本辣椒 Japanese chili, and 蛋黃醬 Mayonnaise. There is also another Rice Sandwich choice "玉子煙熏雞肉火腿飯糰 Tamago smoked chicken ham Onigirazu" with the same price. However, worth mentioning is the slightly expensive but definitely tasty rm$18 "北海道奶油燉肉 Hokkaido Cream Stew" or  "北海道クリームシチュー", the sweet creamy concoction is 燉雞塊、玉米和土豆醬 chicken cubes, corn, and potato stewed in cream sauce served with vegetables like 胡蘿蔔 carrots, 玉米 corn, 土豆 potato, 西蘭花 broccoli, and served with 各種麵包 assorted breads. 

The little Japanese Café Kiosk "J喫茶 J-Kissa" will be available for Dine-in fairly soon. Looking forward to savor J-Kissa's 日式咖啡 Japanese style Coffee especially the "手工滴濾咖啡 Hand Drip Coffee". The Chef also highly recommended his "沖繩辣炸玉米餅飯 Okinawa Spicy Taco Rice", "橫濱芝士咖哩多利亞魚 Yokohama Cheese Curry Doria" and his new and latest creation "焗羅勒雞肉通心粉 Basil Chicken Macaroni Gratin".

Fun Facts: おにぎらず Onigirazu is a variant of お握り Onigiri, both are Japanese-style rice sandwich fillings that are wrapped using 海藻/海苔 seaweed. The name おにぎらず Onigirazu is quite interesting and is a term that was derived from both the word お握りOnigiri (English translation: 飯糰 rice ball) which means to 握る(にぎる) nigiru, or "手捏飯 To mold (rice) in one’s hands", and 握らず(おにぎらず) Onigirazu, where "razu" means the opposite, which is "不用手捏飯 "To not mold in one’s hands"; it is probably due to the larger size of the Onigirazu! Essentially, おにぎらず Onigirazu means a rice ball that does not need to be molded in one's hands. While the Japanese rice ball sandwich called Onigiri has its origin from the the 鎌倉時代 Kamakura period in the 12-13th Century and became more popular in the 江戸時代 Edo Period (17th-18th Century). However, the word おにぎらず Onigirazu only first appeared in Japanese culture in 1990s and interestingly it is invented by a Comic character (a married salary salesman) in a Comic series called "妙廚老爹 クッキングパパ Cooking Papa" from the pens of the 漫畫創作者 Manga creator 上山栃 Ueyama Tochi. Instead of his wife, the Salesman which is the main character of "妙廚老爹 "Cooking Papa"" also prepares the foods for his family. And in one of the 漫畫系列 Manga series, 妙廚老爹 "Cooking Papa" invents おにぎらず Onigirazu, which, is his version of an Onigiri, and it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare. He basically spreads cooked rice on a large piece of 乾海藻 dried seaweed, or 海苔 nori, then proceeds to pile on various non-traditional rice ball fillings, then quickly folds his おにぎらず Onigirazu closed, cuts them in half, and the result is two halves that look like but double the size of an onigiri sandwich. おにぎらず Onigirazu was an instant hit and became such a popular food that many restaurants started to include the dish in their menu. It was also chosen by "ぐるなび総研 Gurunavi Research Institute" (one of the role of GRI being Japan's authority in Gourmet & Restaurant Guide) as 2015's food item of the year after the sandwich-like dish became a sensation more than 20 years following its introduction in a Manga series.
