Thoughts: It was more than 6 months ago as last visit to USJ1's Chong Kok Kopitiam was 19.01.2019 and surprisingly it is still around! And it's not as crazily crowded anymore when it first opened in 2018 (last year August/September 2018). The very popular Klang legendary Chong Kok Kopitiam, with a history of more than 75 years opened its 1st branch outside of Klang in USJ 1 with the first few weeks did pull in large crowds perhaps out of curiosity and hype but the craze soon died out. As today, the tables were just 25% filled at around 11am!

After a couple of visit to the USJ1 Chong Kok, I find the taste overall was quite average, although today I did like the 海南鸳鸯咖啡 Hainam Cham. And since after the last visit, the Kopitiam has added new recipe (4 of them) of basically 3 variants of "Blue Rice" (the East Coast Nasi Kerabu) with choices of Crispy Chicken, Rendang Beef, and Bumbu Chicken plus Mango Chicken with White Rice. Decided to sample the Nasi Kerabu Bumbu Chicken and the plate came with the Kelantanese/Thai origin Nasi Kerabu, salted egg, ulam and the "Bumbu Chicken"! That "Bumbu Chicken" does in fact look more like Rendang Chicken; but a web search revealed that the "Fried Bumbu Chicken Recipe" is an Indonesian dish of roasted chicken grilled with aromatic spices! And I am quite puzzled that the delivered chicken drumstick noticeably look and taste did not seemed roasted at all; but maybe its another variant of the Indonesian Bumbu chicken. The "Rendang-like" sauce wasn't too bad but overall its quite average in taste.
As usual, Parking at USJ Sentral 1 (shop lots opposite Giant/Damen) is relatively easier on weekends compared to weekdays. With the expensive rental here at USJ Sentral 1, not sure if the USJ 1 Chong Kok Kopitiam can survive in the long run if with the kind of crowd this morning.
