Thoughts: Founded in December 2014 in the heart of downtown Kuala Lumpur, Optimist. AND Optimist first outlet is a small and friendly kiosk outside Ampang Park LRT station (not too far from KLCC). Last visit to the Ampang Park LRT station kiosk was June 4.2019 where the "烤榛子咖啡 Roasted Hazelnut Coffee" then was rm$9.90.

Optimist Coffee at Lot 10 is at an excellent location which is right at the Exit of the Bukit Bintant MRT station AND at the Side lane of Lot 10. The Café Kiosk is like its Ampang Park kiosk, which is designed for Take-aways. With only 2 benches here (no tables) and clean surrounding (no foul smells), a nice setup on the busy streets of Bukit Bintang!

Thoughts: Hailing from 福岡 Fukuoka, 博多 Hakata is one of the most famous 拉麵風格之一 Ramen styles in Japan. The base of the ramen is 豬骨湯 Tonkotsu, the 奶油豬骨湯 creamy pork bone broth which gives the dish its incredibly rich and layered taste, another characteristics of the 博多拉麵 Hakata Ramen is the use of 細麵 thinner noodles. According to documentation, the porky broth is often only seasoned with 鹽 shio (salt), and occasionally with 醬油 shoyu (soy sauce) and 味噌 miso (fermented soybean) paste; giving it a 獨特 distinct, 鮮味 umami, 豬油 porky greasy flavor. 

Today's lunch is a rm$20 "黑蒜豬肉拉麵 (博多ラーメン) Black Garlic Hakata Ramen" at JS Gates "三ツ矢堂製麺 Matsuyado Ramen" at the 4th floor of Lot 10. The Ramen bowl comes with 博多式 Hakata-style 豬骨湯 Tonkotsu (Pork bone) soup blended with special in-house 黑蒜醬 black garlic sauce, topped with one or two 日式烤豬肉 Japanese style roasted pork (日本叉燒 Chashu) and finally topped with 蔥 spring onions and 黑木耳 black fungus toppings. Apart from the slightly greasy broth (which I emptied anyway), everything else were great; from the in-house 拉麵 ramen noodles (which are made daily from imported 日本小麥粉 Japanese wheat flour) to the 叉燒 Chashu. 

三ツ矢堂製麺 Mitsuyado Ramen has 3 locations in 巴生谷 Klang Valley: Starling Mall (八打靈再也 PJ Damansara up-town), The Gardens Mall (吉隆坡 KL 谷中城花園廣場 Mid Valley), and J's Gate (吉隆坡 KL 樂天 Lot 10). The Ramen specialty shop offers 3 variants of Ramen called the 博多拉麵 Hakata Ramen, つけ麺 Tsukemen, & まぜ麺 Maze-men. While 拉麵 Ramen is Noodles on broth, つけ麺 Tsukemen is cold ramen noodles served with a separate bowl of flavorful broth for dipping. On the other hand, まぜ麺 Mazemen ("まぜ Maze" means "混合 to mix") is a variety of ramen that serves without the broth, a little bit like our "乾撈麵 Kon Low Min".

Thoughts: Among the shopping Malls along Jalan Bukit Bintang, KL's "樂天廣場 Lot 10" showcase the most minimalist of this year's Chinese New Year decorations. Adorning the Center Court are 3 bunch of lanterns hanging from the 4th floor. From a certain angle at the J'S Gate (the 4th floor), each bunch of hanging lantern is like a bunch of red grapes!
