Food Thoughts: Chetties is definitely a favorite for Malaysian Indians in Shah Alam. It always attracts a good lunch crowd from 12 noon to even after 3pm. Besides common dishes both vegetarian and meat choices, it also offers special recipes for each lunch session. You can find the daily specials for lunch listed in a board standing outside the restaurant greeting the customers. 
Besides ready lunch dishes, it also offers marinated fish and chicken where you can choose to be cooked freshly for your lunch meal. I ordered some marinated chicken pieces as well as readied vegetables from the counter for lunch. It does not take long for the fried chicken to arrive on the table. The young indian boys here (in their 20s) does a good job in being attentive to every customers orders. Chetties is definitely a good spot for breakfast and lunch if you happen to be in Shah Alam and like some Indian cuisines.

Food Thoughts: Chetties is my favorite Indian spot for Masala Tea anytime of the day. Everyday after 3pm, the restaurant will start serving Appam as well as to start cooking a fresh round of Idlis for the late afternoon and the evening crowd. The freshly steamed Idli, while is hot, served with Dal is just wonderful. Idli is a savory rice cake popular as a breakfast dish in India, Sri Lanka. 
On top of Masala Tea, I am having the "Buttermilk", despite its name, in India it is also known as "Chaas" (it has came to be known as Buttermilk for the lack of terms to use), but the "whitish" almost transparent drink is really a yoghurt based drink. Another name for "Buttermilk" or "Chaas" is "Neer Mor". It is a popular drink as a "cooler" during summer made all over India with different variants. The drink is very much a diluted yoghurt with that sour taste and I would say it is an acquired taste.

Food Thoughts: It's Indian fried bitter gourd and two types of tofu (spicy and non-spicy with vege), and a whole lot of papadam to go with it. Not forgetting my favorite Masala Tea here at Chetties. A delightful and filling vegetarian meal on the 1st day of the Chinese 11th Lunar Month.
If you come at around 1pm, the restaurant will be crowded, as you may have to queue up just a little bit for self service at the food counter, one side vegetarian and next counter is the meat section. Chetties is a favorite for Indians and Chinese alike especially during lunch time, about 15 vegetarian dishes as well as 10-15 meat dishes are served at lunch time every day. There is a list of daily special dishes at the entrance every day. For example, today's vegetarian special are cabbage sambal, tofu sambal, vege chicken sambal, vege chicken paratal etc. Overall, very good Indian vegetarian cooking and that's why there is a queue to the food counter at 1pm.

Food Thoughts: Chetties is now my goto Indian Restaurant if I needed some Indian tea; not just any tea but their Masala Tea, as long as it is not too sweet! For 2nd breakfast today, I am trying their Thosai Rawa (also known as Rava Thosai), somewhat tender and crispy at the same time with a "netted" texture to it! It's a variation of the normal Thosai, with added spices, curry leaves, and herbs. Worth mentioning is the tomato chutney and the coconut chutney, a wonderful dip for the Rava Thosai.

And when you come in often enough, the people greating you will know what you want, the was what exactly happened this evening at Chetties, the waiter and the chef knows I am in for a round of Masala Tea and a hot Appam!
