There is also another Pan Mee specialty shop nearby in USJ10 called "豐芳辣椒板麵 Restoran Super Kitchen Chilli Pan Mee" which has nothing to to with this one! Regardless of their relationships, both specializes in 辣椒板麵 Chili Pan Mee. This one at USJ 9 offers other noodles varieties like 香脆肉麵 Crispy Pork Chop Pan Mee, 魚肉米粉 Fish Noodle Soup, 大浦板麵 Da Pu Pan mee etc from rm$11.80 to rm$13.90. Besides noodles, the shop also offers rice dishes like "咕嚕肉飯 Koo Low Yoke fan", 香脆魚肉套飯 Deep fried Fish Fillet rice etc.

餃子 Dumplings or the more traditional name of 餛飩 wontons, other names are 扁食 or 水餃子. The  various cooking methods for dumplings including 煮 boiling, 蒸 steaming, 煎 frying, 烤 baking, etc. Since the 宋代 Song Dynasty, there has been a 冬至日吃餃子的習俗 custom of eating dumplings on the Winter Solstice. Since the 明朝 Ming Dynasty, there has been a custom of 正月初一吃餃子的習俗 eating dumplings on the first day of the first lunar month. 

In Malaysia, 餃子 (Jiao Zi) Dumpling and 餛飩 (Hun Tun) Wonton are quite different, 餃子 Jiao Zi is usually larger in size which can be stuffed with pork, beef, prawns, scallions, shredded napa cabbage and even 馬蹄 Water chestnuts; while 餛飩 Wanton are the smaller version of the Dumpling with lesser stuffing and also wrapped differently.

板麵 Banmian or Pan Mee is a noodle dish popular in 中國大陸 China, 馬來西亞 Malaysia, 新加坡 Singapore and 台灣 Taiwan (but interestingly not at all common in 香港 Hong Kong or 澳門 Macau). The noodle recipe consists of 雞蛋麵 egg noodles served in a flavorful soup (likely topped with 蛋花湯 egg with 樹籽菜 sweet potato leaves) or in Malaysia, the dry variant; the bowl of noodle often with accompanied with some type of meat (usually pork) or fish, vegetables and various spices. 炸江魚仔 Dried anchovies, 豬肉碎 flavored minced pork, 香菇片 mushrooms, and a leafy vegetable such as 樹籽菜 sweet potato leaves in the soup are also possible ingredients. Almost every Pan Mee shop also offers their 製辣椒醬 specially home-made sauce to go with the Pan Mee. The Soup Banmian is also considered to be one of the healthier hawker food choice!

Interesting finding from Wikipedia that the current style of 板麵 Ban Mian or Pan Mee very likely originated through a mixture between 客家人 Hakka's & 福建人 Hokkien's 傳統的麵條製作方法 traditional noodle making methods. The 客家人 Hakkas initially made the noodle by 刀削 shaving pieces off a block of dough, commonly made from flour (sometimes egg is added for more flavor), while the 福建人 Hokkiens would roll the dough into a large, flat piece that would then be 手撕 torn by hand into bite-sized bits.

USJ 9 "超級辣椒板麵 USJ Super Chili Pan Mee" offers 7-8 variants Pan Mee in Soup, Curry or Dry Pan Mee (with Pork and Fish, Prawns) from rm$8.50 to rm$9.50; there is this "鹵板面 Loh Pan Mee" that looks interesting (but probably not suitable for take-away). Today's rm$8.50 "香脆肉板麵 Crispy Pork Chop Pan Mee" comes with thin round noodles, 香脆豬肉片 braised pork slices, topped with spring onions and on the side are the typical "樹籽菜 sweet potato leaf (pucuk/sayur manis)"soup, a packet of (i think) 炸洋蔥碎crispy fried onions, as well as crispy crackers 脆餅乾, and 板麵辣椒醬 chili sauce. The "香脆肉板麵 Crispy Pork Chop Pan Mee" is probably isn't the best of what the shop can offer. But everyone have their own preferences for their favorite Pan Mee spot. Besides Pan Mee, the USJ 9 超級辣椒板麵 USJ Super Chili Pan Mee also offers rm$8.50 豬肉/魚/雞肉飯 Pork/Fish/Chicken Rice dishes and a variety of 小吃 Side Orders.

Thoughts: USJ9's "Restoran Super Kitchen Chilli Pan Mee" which had been operation for the past 11 years has recently moved to USJ10 (officially opened in USJ 10 Taipan on 17/07/2020). The old USJ9 location is now another Chili Pan Mee restaurant called "超級辣椒板麵 USJ Super Chili Pan Mee". It does not matter what story was behind the new and the old. 

Trying out the New USJ9 USJ Super Chili Pan Mee's rm$8 "咕嚕豬肉飯 Sweet and Sour Pork rice" comes with 2 fried bean curds, and the typical sweet and sour fried meat. Sweet and Sour with Pork was crispy but not that tender, not the best in town!. However, the rm$7 "水餃湯 Dumpling Soup" was as good as before. 

Perhaps should give a try to the Chili Pan Mee at the new USJ9's "超級辣椒板麵 USJ Super Chili Pan Mee" next time!
