Food Thoughts: Last having the Nasi Kukus here was April 27 last year (8 months)! Last time of 2 visits lst year here ware Lontong, Daging Dendeng, Masak Lemak Coconut Sayur Puteh, and Masak Chili Api Itek. 
The Salai dishes and Nasi Daging already finished before lunch (best to come for breakfast or before 10am for these items). So, for lunch its Nasi Kukus with the very spicy Sambal Belachan and a delicious "Bandar ayam" Goreng. Enjoyed my lunch here during the Azan, have always enjoyed eating here. Despite being always the only Chinese eating inside the Surau's cafateria, people here are quite friendly and hospitable.
传统马来蒸饭和炸鸡配参巴辣酱 Nasi Kukus Sambal Belachan Ayam Goreng was a simpe dish with the "Warm" Nasi Kukus, garnished on the side with the very very spicy Sambal Belachan, a large piece of freshly fried chicken (city/bandar chicken as they call it), two crunchy salted fish and very nice gravy. Enjoyed it.

Food Thoughts: Malay and Indian food in my experience are usually spicy (red colors), bit high on the oily and salty side. Surprising to find the Masak Lemak Coconut Sayur Putih (with Labu Siam), a vegetarian dish, nicely flavored and a good combination that goes with the usual meaty and spicy choices in your nasi campur. 
My combination for lunch was Lontong with squid from one stall and header to another stall for the daging dendeng and labu siam vegetarian.

Food Thoughts: There is a major shake-up of restaurants in Surau Al-Madaniah. Cafe Al-Madaniah already ceased operation a few weeks ago. During the transition period, some renovations were done and now Nasi Kukus MAMA SAB is the main eatery provider at the Surau. 
The new eatery offers 3 menu choices from 6:30am to 11:30pm. Breakfast session 6:30am - 11:00am offers the usual Roti Cani, Lempeng, and an interesting Nasi Lemuni. Afternoon session offers their signature Nasi Kukus as well as Masak Lemak Cili Api with various meat varieties including Duck, Beef, Chicken, and Quail. Dinner starts at 5pm until before mid-night which offers Roti Canai again as well as Satay and Nasi Lemak! 
For lunch, I am trying their Masak Lemak Cili Api with duck as choice of meat. Masak Lemak Cili Api is a specialty from Negeri Sembilan Cuisine, which is a spicy rich tumeric based yellow coconut gravy that is cooked with bird's eyes chillies. The spicy yellow milky gravy is the main attraction of this dish.  Nevertheless, the smoky duck drumstick although had a smoky flavor but the meat was overly cooked. The standard dish comes with rice, patato, salted fish, and cucumber w/sambal. Overall, a good experience of another Negeri Sembilan cuisine.

Food Thoughts: While Nasi Dagang is a Malaysian East-Coast cuisine, the Sup Soto is found to be most prevalent in Java. Today, for lunch I am having the Nasi Dagang by Cafe Al-Madaniah and the Sup Soto Ayam by SJ Corners, both located within the compounds of Surau Al-Madaniah in USJ 18. 
Nasi Daging is mainly served with coconut rice, sweet pickles of cucumber and carrot plus Curry Fish (served here is Tuna fish), Cafe Al-Madaniah cooks up a very nice Nasi Dagang dish, reminded me of the one's I had a few years ago at the East Coast.
The Sup Soto Ayam (chicken) is a yellowish curry dish (a bit oily), with tumeric as the main ingredient of the soup that makes it yellowish color. 
Both the Nasi Dagang and Sup Soto Ayam was like a "snack" portions but very tasty dishes by the chefs.
