Thoughts: Today's breakfast is a rm$8.50 娘惹咖哩叻沙 Nyonya Curry Laksa (Large bowl), the regular bowl is rm$7.50. The Nyonya Curry Laksa comes with thick laksa gravy with 叉燒 char siew, 豆腐卜 tau fu pok, 黃瓜絲 julienne cucumber, and a half 熟雞蛋 boiled-egg with 黃麵 yellow noodle and 米粉 bee hoon. Last visit was 21 February 2022, was the same but regular 娘惹咖哩叻沙 Nyonya Curry Laksa with 雲吞麵 wanton mee, which I liked better!

With only 2 Chinese Kopitiam around USJ 17,18,20; the only multi-hawker stall "天天茶餐室 R.A.M Food Corner" is usually packed to the brim for breakfast and lunch times. AND the only alternative is 娘惹茶餐室 Restoran Nyonya Goh, which offers noodles for breakfast (from rm$7.50 to rm$8.50) and a variety of 單座小炒 Single dishes which starts from rm$10+ onwards. Although there are 鴻豐點心 Hoong Foong Dim Sum and 林老母麵館 Lim LaoBu's Noodle House as well as more eateries in nearby USJ21, parking in that area is impossible unless you don't mind the private parking inside Main Place Mall.

Thoughts: Laksa is one of the most popular dishes of 東南亞 Southeast Asian origin, with a diverse variety of ingredients and preparations depending on the people of that region, and among the popular Laksa variations in Malaysia; from the east coast to the west coast, and east malaysia to west malaysia are the list below and among them that 檳城 Penang's 亞參叻沙 Asam Laksa has made it into the list of "The World's 50 Best Foods" according to a Western media. But regardless of what the Westerners say, each of the Laksa from the different states of the country have its unique flavors and surprises:

Just like Nasi Lemak, 叻沙 Laksa is probably one of the most celebrated dish in Malaysia (and maybe Singapore as well). The curry noodle dish has its influences from Chinese, Malay, and other cultures. At its very core, what makes the flavorful thick creamy curry laksa soup is the concoction of 椰奶 coconut milk, lots of 紅辣椒乾 dried red chilies, chopped shallots, sour asam, 咖哩粉 curry power, garlic cloves, coriander, 蝦醬 shrimp paste, 香茅莖 lemongrass stalks etc. When done well, the result is a laksa gravy that is semi-thick and creamy with a variety of flavors! The usual noodle that goes with curry laksa is probably "粗米粉 thick rice noodles" called the laksa noodle or vermicelli (or "米粉 thin white noodles"), although some prefer the thicker "福建麵 hokkien noodles" or "濑粉 Laifun", while East Coast's 叻參 Laksam uses rice noodles like look like 豬腸粉 Chee Cheong Fun except that it is the Halal Malay version! However, I ask for 雲吞麵條 Wanton mee for today's Nyonya Curry Laksa!  

The meat that topped the noodle dish can be 雞肉 chicken, 小蝦或大蝦 small or big prawns, 魚肉 fish or even 龍蝦 lobster and 螃蟹 crab (mine today came with 叉燒 Charsiew)!

The "娘惹咖哩叻沙 Nyonya Curry Laksa" or sometimes also called "Laksa Lemak or Fatty Laksa", is from the state of Malacca, is a 土生華人(峇峇娘惹料理) Peranakan dish. Nyonya Curry Laksa's creamy broth (often cooked with prawn shells and chicken bones) are usually thick with coconut milk and fiery, with the colors of a flaming sunrise. Toppings including 魚餅切片 Fish cakes slices, 豆腐卜 Tofu Pok, 蛤蜊 Cockles, 煮蝦去皮 boiled and peeled Prawns, 煮雞蛋 Boiled egg or 鵪鶉蛋 Quail egg, additional 峇拉煎 Belachan, 叻沙葉 Laksa leaf, maybe some 豆芽 bean sprouts (mine today came with 黃瓜絲 julienne cucumber) and 半片青檸 a half Lime.

Thoughts: From the "Peak" of 25,000+ 冠狀病毒病病例 Covid-19 cases in Mid to End of August, Covid cases reduced to 6000+ in End of October and now hovering around 4000+ these 2 weeks just a few days before End of 2021. 疫苗接種進展 Vaccination progress is now at around 79% with 2 doses of the Population 接種 inoculated and 11% with Booster shots, and although current Vaccines stocks maybe enough for at least 86% of the Population to be inoculated; it is probably a daunting task to get even get above 80% inoculation. But whatever opinion one has on the "Myths and Facts of the Vaccines", it is still probably good to note that at least 94% of the 巴生谷 Klang Valley population are fully inoculated!

Compared to a month ago, traffics on the roads are now busier, and even the customers dining in Chinese Kopitiams have increased and it does seem that the comfort level of eating out in restaurants and kopitiams are becoming more positive by the day! 

Today's Monday morning breakfast is at USJ20's "娘惹茶餐室 Restoran Nyonya Goh"; both "天天茶餐廳 Restoran R.A.M Food Corner" and "娘惹茶餐室 Restoran Nyonya Goh" in USJ20 are full house on a Monday Morning at 8:30am! There are at least 10 breakfast choices here with Noodles and Rice dishes from rm$6.50 - rm$9 (with most dishes at rm$6.50), and looks like 奶茶 Teh is still at rm$1.50 compared to rm$1.90 - rm$2 in many USJ kopitiam now. 

Today's rm$6.50 "豬肉粉 Pork noodle" comes in a bowl of clear soup (fine with me), lots of green (菜心 choy sum), 河粉 hor fun and 米粉 vermicelli, with 豬肉丸 pork balls, 豬肉片 pork slices, and 豬肉碎 minced pork, minus the 豬內臟 pork innards and 豬油炸 pork lard (also fine with me), fried onions and chopped green chilis on the side. 

The 娘惹咖哩叻沙 Nyonya Curry Laksa is new in the breakfast menu, looks quite appetizing, next time!

Thoughts: USJ20's "娘惹茶餐室 Restoran Nyonya Goh" yet to open for Dine-in, while many Chinese Kopitiam and Restaurants in USJ initially cautious in August for the Dine-in option are now slowly allowing a mixture of Dine-in and Take-away options. 

Today's lunch is the rather expensive rm$11 "三峇臭豆蝦飯 Sambal Petai Prawn Rice", which comes with maybe 6 - 8 pieces of small prawns but generous amount of the sweet and spicy sambal petai and lots of white rice. 三峇臭豆蝦 Sambal Udang Petai (spicy chili gravy with prawn and stink bean) is a common dish in 東南亞國家 South East Asia country and to be more precise, 馬來西亞 Malaysia, 印度尼西亞 Indonesia, 新加坡 Singapore & 泰國 Thailand. This sweet and spicy sambal was appetizing and itself alone can be eaten with steamy white rice. While the 臭豆 stinky bean taste mild and not bitter at all with crunchy consistency giving a good "crunchy bite" exercise with the rice. The popular recipe for cooking petai is 辣叁巴 spicy sambal along with either 蝦 prawns, 江魚仔 ikan bilis or 蘇東 sotong.  

"Petai" are called 臭豆 Stink Beans (or Bitter/Smelly Beans), wrapped in a tough outer skin of twisted pods; can be seen hanging at the entrance to many eateries in many Malay eateries, even in Thailand or Indonesia. Some people are addicted to it eating them 生吃 raw, 油炸 fried, 醃製 pickled or even 半熟 half-ripe! These green delicacy comes with lots of "氨基酸 Amino Acids" which can results in 口臭 stinky breath and 尿臭 stinky urine. It is said that Petai comes with some health benefits including 降低血壓 lowering blood pressure to 緩解壓力 relieving stress and possibly assist in 防止胃灼熱 warding off heartburn!
