Thoughts: And so, I came back for lunch at the same restaurant as the lady boss recommends the "must eat" which is fried tapioca noodles and green bean dessert soup. Fried Taipioca noodle is a bit spicy but very wet and nice, fried with bean sprouts, egg, and pork slices. That green bean dessert is with 油条 fritters, interesting and she said it cannot be found in mainland as this is her special recipe!

Highlights: Fishing Village and Food
Thoughts: my LRT + Train (KTM) + Speed Boat (was 2 hours) before I arrived at the Ketam Jetty. If you are here for breakfast, some photography, and later lunch; do come early as the sun really is quite hot after 10am. Although I brought the Olympus OMD-EM1 with m.zuiko 25mm, I shot the entire trip with the Phone camera.

Thoughts: Joining a family of 4 strangers, we paid for an excursion boat trip to a fish farm and fish hotel off Pulau Ketam via a small boat. It is $15 per person with minimum 6 people, since there are 5 of us, we have to pay the minimum fees of $80 and therefore only $16 per head. The boat trip from Ketam Jeti to the fish farm is 15 minutes 1 way. Total tour time is 90 minutes. (So, actual tour time is 60 minutes with 30 minutes on the boat)!

Excursion time: 12:30am to 02:00pm

The Tour company called "Greeway Tour Services" is located at Jalan Merdeka. Just 2-3 minutes from the Jeti, can't missed it as you must past the little hut (where the shop is) before going further into inner roads of Pulau Ketam.

 

I think the Fish Farm owner manages the Tour itself, he owns both the fish farm as well as the fishing hotel at sea as well as the tour company to his businesses! Acoompanying him are two teenagers who help out in the boat.

 

It took around 15 minutes from Pulau Ketam Jeti to the "Kelongs". We were greeted by at least 3 dogs, dogs are a necessity in Kelongs to guard the fish farm from intruders who come to steal fish! The dogs diet are fish ! 

So, the owner starts explaining about his fish farm and I think he said he farms 4 types fish or any fish which can make money. So at present, it is the 龙胆鱼 "Long Dan Fish" which can go up to 5 or 6 feet which can sell few thousand ringgit per head and all for export to Hong Kong or elsewhere (Yup, I saw them and its really BIG). Another fish is 石斑鱼 "Siakap", 红枣鱼 "Golen Snapper", and the 4th one don't remember now! He continues to explain how he setup his business and how difficult fish farming is and current environmental impacts to the Kelongs at Pulau Ketam, bla bla ... I listened to most of it but it was really a very hot at noon time to be listening to lecture! 

Finishing the fish farm, another 15 minutes of boat ride to his fishing hotel.

The Fishing Hotel is where one can rent a room here, do some fishing at night or early morning and barbeque your catch on the spot. I hear that the nights are very cooling here. I would say quite a clean setup, they also have place for malay prayers. 

Thats it for the tour, and another 15 minutes of boat trip back to the Pulau Ketam Island.

Thoughts: It really took always 2 hours to reach Pulau Ketam (from LRT USJ 21 to Subang Jaya Station, then KTM to Port Klang, Speed boat from the Jeti to Pulau Ketam), by the time I reached the destination, it was already way passed 10am. Initially I wanted to try the Bak Kut Teh at Pulau Ketam; but a passenger (resident of P.Ketam) in the boat told me people in P.Ketam eat BKT around 8am and after that usually left bones or closed after 9am!
Anyway, I think there is only one "busy" road in P.Ketam which is Jalan Besar (Main Road) where at 10am mostly preparing for Seafood. So, I settled for something familiar which is Wan Ton Mee. It comes with both barbeque pork and fish cake slices, noodle and sauce is not too bad! I was hungry anyway. It is just nice to eat something in a totally non-familiar place. The shop also sells other fried stuff and the shop lady invited me to come back for her other specialities for lunch! LOL!
