Thoughts: The nearest Chinese Kopitiam to Semenyih's University of Nottingham (about 500m distance) is this "郊外領小食餐廳 Broga Valley Restaurant", a typical corner shop lot Chinese Kopitiam with several hawker stalls. I am sure there are more/better food choices at the Semenyih town areas!
The rm$7 "瓦煲老鼠粉 Claypot Loh Si Fun", average in taste but does comes with a raw egg; price is comparable to similar kopitiams in Subang Jaya area.
In Malaysia or Singapore, it is normally referred to as 老鼠粉 literally "Rat Noodle (Mouse Tail Noodle)" (Loh Si Fun in Cantonese), but in Hong Kong and Taiwan, it is commonly known as "銀針粉 Silver needle noodle". An interesting name for 老鼠粉 or Rat Noodle in Indonesia is called "Locupan"! The noodle measuring around 5cm looks like the tail of a rat (or a very thick needle) also have different names in 泰國 Thailand and 柬埔寨 Cambodia.
So, names in different countries:

Ying Zhen Fen 銀針粉 Silver needle noodle - 香港 Hong Kong or 台灣 Taiwan

It is said that Mi-Chi-Mok (Hakka) 米篩目 or (老鼠粄 or 老鼠粉) is a 客家傳統米製麵條 Hakka traditional rice noodles, generally believed to have originated in 梅州/大埔 Meizhou/Dabu, 廣東 Guangdong.
In 台灣20到30年代的農業社會 Taiwan’s agricultural society from the 1920s to the 1930s, every household arranged a 稻穀成熟的季節 harvest date when the rice was ripe, and the owner of the principal would prepare a variety of snacks during the morning and evening breaks. 銀針粉 Silver needle noodle was a 傳統米食 traditional rice dish that was commonly eaten at that time. A kind of 客家粉條 Hakka vermicelli, the main ingredient is 米漿 rice milk steamed into a 凝塊 curd, and then passing the curd into dozens of small iron holes to form a long round strip shape similar to noodles but a shorter form (5cm long and 5mm diameter), easy to digest and eat, suitable for all ages. One of the more popular noodle house that offers Taiwan "Mi-Chi-Mok (Hakka) 米篩目" in Taipei is called "永樂米苔目", a 3 generation shop where the founder originally sold the "rat tail noodles" from a tricycle in Taipei's 永樂 Yong Le district, hence the stall is called 永樂米苔目; available in soup or dry version and choice of variety of porky innards including 大腸 Intestines, 豬心 pig hear, 豬皮 pig skin, 三層肉 3-layer meat, 豬肺 pig lungs etc (choices not that common in Malaysia noodle hawker stalls for our local Rat Noodles).
In 香港 Hong Kong, the original name of the Hakka "Lao Shu Ban 老鼠粄" wasn't a pleasant one and since the noodle have 2 "sharp ends" and looks like needle, it is then called "Ying Zhen Fen 銀針粉 Silver needle noodle". The dish can be found in 茶樓 Dim Sum House/Restaurant or "茶餐廳 Char Chan Ten" as a 炒銀針粉 fried dish (Dim Sum plate). Some Hong Kong noodle shops also offer it as a soup recipe with 冬菜 Preserved vegetables and 肉碎 Minced meat, as a quick breakfast dish.
Lao Shu Ban 老鼠粄 was probably brought down to 南洋 Nanyang Malaysia and Singapore by Southern Chinese Immigrants (1800s to 1950s), and somehow it is called 老鼠粉 Lao Shu Fen in the two Nanyang neighboring countries. In Malaysia, 老鼠粉 Lao Shu Fen can be served in a good varieties not limited to the following:

The noodle choice usual meats are 豬肉片 Pork slices, 豬肝 Pork liver or 豬內臟 Pork innards, 肉碎 Minced Pork, 豬肉丸 Pork ball, 魚丸 Fish ball, 豬油渣 Pork Lard etc and usually final touch topping wwith a 生蛋 raw egg as optional choice for texture and egg mixed flavoring.

Thoughts: Unlike in the 80s where choices of schools after Form 5 is limited to either Local Public Universities or in PJ, there is this KDU (College Damansara Utama) or Stamford College and maybe a few more. Private Colleges then offered more popular marketable courses like Secretary or Accounting or preparation course for overseas studies. Technical qualifications then maybe only up to Diploma level offered by Private Institutes. Then, TAR (Tunku Abdul Rahman College), has its roots in the 1960s (and only upgraded to University College level in 2013). In the 1980s, the student population already at above 6000, and offering a variety of Diploma level courses of Arts and Sciences, TAR College was then "the" popular choice perhaps for "Chinese" who couldn't get into local Public Universities but still wanted to attend a local Semi-Public College. 

Today, for people in Klang Valley, there are really quite a lot of Private Education choices which offer Degree programs with the pricing generally from rm$40,000+ to rm$130,000+. Let's look University of Nottingham Malaysia Psychology program, The Psychology Program offered by University of Nottingham Malaysia first outside UK to receive BPS (British Psychological Society accreditation). It is a Science-based program and SPM graduates are generally expected to have taken O Level Biology, and not just that as an Advanced level of Mathematics with SPM Double-Mathematics are also expected. Even its Foundation in Science Program (for those without STPM or A levels) have at least 3 Biology courses, 2 Psychology courses, and 3-4 Mathematics courses expected of for Psychology Degree students.
