Thoughts: It would have been great if there is at least a solid 5-6 hours for 2 days of street photographing here at Ipoh. But while the family is wondering at Concubine Lane, I headed for some photo therapy using my Note 8 on the streets nearby. 
Ipoh does have a lot of colonial architectural remains which presents more charm of the city than the new mundane structures. I also wished to have the time for the Mural Art Trail of Ernest Zacharevic creations on the east side of the Kinta River where Concubine Lane is located. 
Perhaps I did found a few murals by some other artist, the hour of foto theraphy and wondering around a couple of streets was still satisfying despite just using the note 8.   
A note, come as early as possible, like 7am+ to get a parking spot near Concubine lane. If you intend for a couple of hours of street photographing here, get some parking coupons for parking from 9am onwards. It will start to get pretty hot after 11am, but the morning sunlight will be nice for photographing around here at least until 11am. Lots of Penang street food and kopitiam or Cafes around this area (West of Kinta River). Till next time!

Thoughts: Most people know of 二奶巷 Concubine Lane which has a history of over 100 years. But there are the other 2 which are 大奶巷 Wife Lane and 三奶巷 3rd Wife Lane as well (all within the same area). These Concubine lanes were owned by a mining tycoon 姚德盛 Yao Tet Shin where after the fire tragedy in 1892, he rebuilt the shop houses and gave the houses of the lanes of each of his 3 wives; at least that was one version of the story. Of course, the other story was that these lanes were secret locations rich men kept their lovers away from their wife's knowledge! 
大奶巷 Wife Lane and 三奶巷 3rd Wife Lane both at Lorong Hale and Market Lane respectively, are not that famous and perhaps unknown to tourist. 二奶巷 Concubine Lane is said to be the most "transformed lane" among the three lanes, its a famous tourist destination (right across the street from 天津茶室 Thean Chun coffee shop). Entrance from Jalan Bandar Timah and exit the lane to Jalan Bijeh Timah, only about 80 meters long. 
If you come early before the street vendors open their store, you can still see the charm of these old colonial architectures; some are abandoned with only facades at the entrance. There is a certain charm as well and spookiness very early in the morning!
