Thoughts: Today's lunch is a rm$16.90 "椰漿飯配咖哩雞 Nasi Lemak w/Curry Chicken" which comes in 2 portions: first is a Pulau Ketam style Nasi Lemak with of course the 椰漿飯 Coconut flavored Nasi Lemak white rice, then is the signature 小蝦 shrimps (Pulau Ketam style) on the side with 炸江魚仔 fried anchovies, 煮雞蛋 boiled egg, 黃瓜片 cucumber slices, 炒咖哩洋蔥 sautéed curry onions, and 辣參巴 spicy sambal. The set also comes with a bowl of tender 咖哩雞 curry chicken with thickly milky curry broth! This recipe comes in a limited 40 serving per day! 

The "吉膽島 Pulau Ketam Nasi Lemak" is also offered by "辣椒飯 Chili Rice" by the Pualau Ketam locals. It is definitely not too different from the popular Nasi Lemak except for the prawns serving. The origin of the "辣椒飯 Chili Rice" is believed that in the early days where the Malay language was not spoken much by the Chinese residents of the Island, and it was difficult for them to pronounce the Malay word “Nasi Lemak”; and so they simply called it “辣椒飯 Chili Rice”. Since then, it has become one of Pulau Ketam's signature dish.

As for the USJ17 2nd outlet, and since its opening November last year, the slightly 3 months old "如玉軒茶室 Ru Yu Xuan Kopitiam" has been pulling the lunch crowds to this new Café in the residential area of USJ17. Besides the Signature Pulau Ketam Nasi Lemak and Curry chicken, the must try here should be their "年糕 Nian Gao" and "炸蝦餅 Prawn fritters" ......

There are 2 porky rice option: "XO醬爆炒三層肉片 XO Sauce Stir-fried Pork rice" & "扒啦扒啦豬扒飯 Pala-Pala Pork chop Rice" perhaps also worth sampling. BUT for a simpler meal, the 包子 Bun + 吐司 Toast varieties to go with their signature "RYX Coffee" or the more adventurous "冰淇淋咖啡 Sundae Ru Yu Coffee" looks good as well. 如玉軒 Ru Yu Xuan is fast becoming a choice to satisfy Foodies, and although parking since then has become more challenging; usually it is still possible to find one or two! If not, it is also possible to park at the USJ16 Caltex station which is walking distance to the USJ 17's 2 row shop lots.

So, today's lunch meal is back to USJ17's "如玉軒茶室 Ru Yu Xuan Kopitiam", the slightly 2 month+ Cafe is as busy as last week Friday afternoon. AND for lunch is a rm$8.90 "五巷港椰漿飯 Sungai Lima Nasi Lemak" which is Chinese style Nasi Lemak with coconut flavored rice of nasi lemak, 煮雞蛋 boiled egg, 炸小江魚仔 anchovies, plus 不太辣的叁巴醬 not too spicy sambal and the sambal prawns (小蝦 little shrimps). 

This style of 椰漿飯配小蝦 Nasi Lemak with little shrimps is popular amongst Chinese inhabitants in 吉膽島 Pulau Ketam; and 五巷港 Sungai Lima literally translating to “第五條河 Fifth river”, and Kampung Bagan Sungai Lima is located on the fifth river from the Main village in the 吉膽島 Island of Pulau Ketam. Not sure why it is called as such "五巷港椰漿飯 Sungai Lima Nasi Lemak" but due to the fishing tradition of Pulau Ketam, A 典型的早餐 typical breakfast meal on the island, the nasi lemak has a bit of everything (from the sea); from 小蝦 small prawns to 小蛤蜊 baby clams to strips of meat. 

For a more satisfying meal, you may want to order the Cafe's 招牌咖哩雞椰漿飯 signature curry chicken Nasi Lemak to go with their highly recommended 虎咬獅 Hor Kai Sai (chilled Coffee+Milo)! However, for all-day-long snacks, the signature rm$3/pc 炸年糕 RYZ Fried Nian Gao (sampled 5 days ago) and also today, the rm$5 (for 2pc) 香脆蝦餅 Crispy Shrimp Cake; both are fried and replenish several times daily as they seem quite popular for both Dine-in and Take-away.

Thoughts: The new Kopitiam "林老母麵館 Lim LaoBu's Noodle House" in USJ21 opened on the 17th May last month, and the first visit was 5th June this month where the rm$12.90 "招聘香菇肉麵 Signature Mushroom Pork Noodle" was generally OK.

The Kopitiam's signature is Curry dishes, and therefore today's breakfast the Kopitiam's signature rrm$13.90 "吉膽咖哩豬肉飯 Ketam Curry Pork Rice". The dish is a white rice sitting on a pool of thick but not too spicy curry broth, topped with a fried egg with some green onions, and on the side are 咖哩豬肉 curry pork meat. The curry broth is sweet and spicy, very appetizing to go with the white rice. 

Predominantly mostly Chinese people, about 95% of the 10,000 population, 吉膽島 Pulau Ketam is an island located off the coast of 巴生港 Port Klang where the chief vegetation is 紅樹林 mangrove surrounding the Islands, and that is the ideal breeding ground for 螃蟹 Crabs, 小魚 Small fish, 貽貝 Mussels, and a variety of other 貝類 shellfish. The islands are also famed with 人工建造的漁村 man-built fishing villages called "龜咯漁場 Kelong" where 龍膽魚 "Long Dan Fish or Giant Groupers". 石斑魚 "Grouper (Siakap)", and 红枣魚 "Golden Snapper" are popular breeding choices. Therefore, it is not surprising that visitors take the ferry trip to the Island for its fresh Seafoods and Steamboat; BUT perhaps not known to many, 咖哩豬肉或海鮮咖哩配麺或飯 Pork Curry or Seafood Curry with Noodle/Rice is also a staple dish that children grew up with in Pulau Ketam.
