The noodle dish is contains the influences of cooking methods from Chinese, Malay, and other cultures AND the Laksa is a popular spicy noodle soup from the Peranakan culture; thus some stories say that it is a dish originating from Peranakan cuisine.

The Doi Chaang Caffe's version of the Lemak Laksa comes in a thick spicy coconut broth, and a spoon of shrimp paste (or "蝦膏 Heko"); with lots of dried chilies, shallots, turmeric, lemongrass, tamarind, and galangal and fish meat; and of course the Laksa noodle. ALL in all, very interesting!
The "檳城鯉魚包 Penang style Otak-Otak" is really funky, always thought that it belongs to those food genre which is an acquired taste to it, just like Tempoyak (maybe).
