Thoughts: Last visit was Dec 10, 2020, and today is the 3rd visit and 3rd time having Toast & Roast's signature Hakka Noodle with its famous Charsiew. (rm$8.20 about 22 months ago and today is rm$8.80). 

At the border of PJ Seksyen 19 and SS2/72 trunk road, Toast & Roast is a small Chinese eatery (opened 13 years ago) located in a short row of shops in a quiet neighborhood of SS2 behind Tropicana City Mall or just next to Ken 2 Damansara Kondo. There are limited MBPJ parking in front of the shop lots, but most customers just park along the SS2/72 trunk road under the trees. 

Besides their 招牌叉燒 signature Charsiew; 燒肉 roasted pork and 燒雞 roasted chicken with 客家麵 Hakka noodle or 飯 rice; the eatery also offers some recipes that are only available on selected days of the week. 

T&R also offer the following specials on selected days: 

山核桃木煙熏雞 Hickory Smoked Chicken whole leg (Daily but limited quantity)

綠咖哩豬肉飯 Pork Green curry (Monday and Thursday Only)

卡拉布米粉 Beehoon Kerabu (Thursday to Sunday)

咖哩雞飯 Curry Chicken rice (Wednesday and Saturday Only)

Most people (even PJ folks) may not even know about the "Toast & Roast" in SS2/72 due to its hidden location, but that "TnR by Sean and Angie" SS2/6 (near to Chow Yang Kopitiam) maybe more familiar to PJ SS2 folks. The SS2/6 "TnR" stands for "Toast and Roast" and the hidden SS2/72 is actually 夫妻档 Wife and Husband "Sean and Angie"'s first shop (according to a Web article)! Sean learn to cook Charsiew and Hakka Noodles from his Uncle's shop and soon the couple started the SS2/72 TnR way back in September 2009. There are no Toast here, the name "Toast and Roast" is because their delicious Charsiew are toasted and then roasted to get that "Melt in your Mouth" Charsiew. The couple later ventured into the SS2/6 new shop in 2016! 

Regardless of who runs the SS2/72 or SS2/6 TnR, or whether there are separate entities, or a family business; both shops offers excellent Charsiew! AND both are worth sampling when you are craving for some good Charsiew in PJ's SS2.

Thoughts: Compared to the last visit on March 14 (which was just a few days before the MCO Lockdown), then the Hakka Noodle came with Charsiew cut slightly Fatty (not the fault of the restaurant), as it was already 2pm that afternoon. Today's Charsiew was absolutely perfect, although can't say for the Hakka Noodle, overall totally satisfied with the Charsiew therapy. rm$8.20 maybe slightly expensive compared to typical 雲吞面 Wanton Mee (maybe rm$6 - rm$7+); but the "Toast & Roast" today comes with 7 big pieces of Charsiew (probably 1.5 or double the portion of  typical Wanton Mee stalls), and instead of 雲吞面 Wanton Mee, its 客家面 Hakka Noodle. The sauce is at the bottom of the bowl, so don't forget to mix it up with the generous amount of crunchy pork lard and some chopped green onions.

Toast & Roast has been operating in the same location for around 10 years now, in SS2 but I think border to PJ Seksyen 19. The location is nestled in between the houses of SS2 and Seksyen 19, in one of the shops in an unassuming small row of shop lots; and if you look beyond the Condos (Ken 1 Damansara) almost next the shop lots, Tropicana Mall (or 3 Damansara) is just maybe 150-200 meters away from SS2/72. There aren't too many MBPJ parking but I think customers just park along any empty spots along the road.

If you like slightly sweet savory perhaps caramelized juicy tender Charsiew, then SS2's "Toast & Roast" will be a perfect alternative. Not Wanton Mee but Hakka Noodle instead, the shop also offers 肉碎 Minced Meat, 燒肉 Roasted Pork, 燒雞 Roasted Chicken, and 魚片 Fish Flakes (menu is in English, and no Chinese here). You can even order Ala Carte items to go with either the rice or plain Hakka Noodle. On selected days, you can even find 酸辣米粉沙拉 Beehoon Kerabu or 绿咖哩猪肉飯 Pork Green Curry Rice! Looking forward to sample these other choices next time!

Thoughts: The roasted pork already sold-out by 1pm; I suggest to come here before noon or better in the morning, and have the Hakka noodle with both Charsiew and Roasted pork. The style of Charsiew here is sweet caramelized style; unfortunately my pork cuts today were too fat albeit still nice (so it is best to order the charsiew cuts you like to go with the Hakka noodle). The bowl comes with generous amount of Hakka noodles also topped with pork lard and some green onions; remember to mixed the noodles with the sauce at the bottom of the bowl. It may also be good idea to order the Hakka noodle with minced pork and add-on with Charsiew and Siew Yoke (Roasted Pork)
Pork green curry seems something definitely worth sampling in the future. Besides the Hakka noodle, you can order dishes with rice as well to go with Char Siew, Siew Yoke or Chicken.
Toast & Roast SS2/72 is located very near to Tropicana City Mall (maybe 100 meters) and stand among a very short row of shop lots. There are limited MBPJ parking in front of the shop lots but most people just park randomly along SS2/72 leading to the shop lots.
