加央角 Kaya puff rm$1.90/pc👍👍👍😋😋😋
Budget: MYR$30-$50
Cuisine: Ipoh biscuits
Highlights: freshly baked, varieties of traditional biscuits
Parking: Ipoh City Council
Thoughts: All are freshly made here, and the samples tasted great as there all just came right out the oven. It's really better to consume these local delights while in Ipoh when the biscuits are still warm and fresh, else it is just like buying them from shops in KL.
The 加央角 Kaya puff, fresh from the oven was the best! Several types of colorful 酥饼 Sow Beng with black bean paste or yam or stuffed with lotus paste plus chicken floss were definitely quite interesting choices to get here. In fact, the confectionary choices here are much more extensive than mentioned above.
The 加央角 Kaya Puff are perfectly baked, 加央 Kaya being Ipoh's specialty coupled with the golden yellow-brown sturdy crust where biting on it won't end up in pieces; the layers that make up the puff were crispy; definitely great to eat when its hot.
南方饼家 Biskut Lam Fong is located at a prominent corner lot facing both 老黄 Lou Wong and 安记芽菜鸡 Ong Kee Bean sprout chicken rice. A perfect spot for tourist to get grab some after dining at the 2 famous chicken rice shops!
Best to never drive into Jalan Yau Tet Shin where it seems to be jammed at all times except early mornings. Some road within this vicinity are closed at night for the "Malay night market".
Rating: 7 / 10 👍👍😋😋
