Thoughts: 燉蛋 Egg Caramel Custard & 猪肉 猪肝 猪肚 沙爹 Pork Satay are the must-eat here at 天津茶室 Thean Chun. Its all day long pork satay from 8:30am to 4:30pm or until finish. The pork satay comes with 猪肉 pork meat, 猪肝 pork liver, and 猪肚 pork stomach; all at rm$1/stick; grilled on the spot.
燉蛋 Egg Caramel Custard is another must-eat here; its silky smooth, even not too sweet for me. Much nicer compared to next door Kopitiam which I tried yesterday. The Custard here is probably one of the best or maybe the best in Ipoh city.
Also tried the curry chee cheong fun, garnished with lots of (I think "fried dried shrimps" or maybe was it "fried chopped garlic") plus long beans and somewhat sweat-spicy curry sauce; its nice, not bad at all.
Coffee Gao was excellent. Unfortunately, the famous Ipoh chicken "kai see" hor fun stall does not open until after 10:30 or 11am!
天津茶室 Thean Chun Coffee Shop is an old classic colonial building restaurant in Ipoh. The shop is said to be around since the 1950s. Its opposite the also famous 二奶巷 Concubine Lane. Parking is extremely challenging after 10/11am. The Kopitiam rest on Thursdays but open every other day of the week from as early as 8am. Prepare for at least 15-30 minutes of waiting time for a table after 10/11am!
