Thoughts: Love Lane has become a night spot and watering hole especially for tourist. It is within the UNESCO Herritage area with the narrow lanes connecting Chulia Street and Fraquhar Steet. Many of the rustic old British Colonial shop houses have been converted to budget hotels, cafes and pubs. There was even a consideration for closure to the Love Lane daily from 7pm - 4am by the local authorities but many nitizens were fuming of the idea as the road closure would mean no more parking possible on the road, more partying, and nightly congestion in that area would be worsened. It seems that the road is still open for motoriest in the evenings at present. It is a happening place with tourist and the pub operator says that watering holes here do not close until very early into the morning.
Interestingly, one theory about why this little road is called the "Love Lane" was because this place was where it brothels stood and where Peranakan and Chinese Business Men then kept their mistresses here!
