And today, I am trying the Pork ball noodle (三间庄 sytle) dry and with rat noodle! According to sayings, 三间庄 "Sam Gan Jong" style Pork ball noodle which serves in either soup or dry version originated from our very own Kuala Lumpur Chinese traditional noodle hawker food shop! And now, has become something of the norm in most Chinese Kopitiam in Klang Valley, and there are some who made it into Shopping Malls as a speciality noodle house (I think there is one in Sunway Pyramids).
It was recorded that the used to be ”指天街” (now renamed as Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock) where shops around there are somehow called “三间庄” (Sam Gan Jong" and that's where it seems one shop selling not the usual ball shaped-type pork all but rather rectangular shaped pork balls (in a row of rectangular grid pork balls), with very "cute" bite 肉质打得非常弹牙爽口. But this shops and those around it no longer exist when the shops were demolished for the current 大家购物中心 Kotaraya shopping mall (thats many decades ago, may be in the early 80s).
This is a nostalgic hawker food and always coming across one at any chinese kopitiam brings back a lot of childhood memories! I like this one here served by a friendly chinese lady with the help of a delightful foreign worker. Nice! The stall offers both 金宝鱼丸粉 Kampar fish ball noodle and 三间庄猪肉粉 "Sam Gan Jong" Pork ball noodle both at rm$6 for small and rm$7 for large.
