Thoughts: First of all, the 杏仁茶 "Eng Jin O Mai Liao Pynia Keh Peng" was definitely a beverage drink I have enjoying for a while in Penang and Ah Koo's Kopitiam offers an excellent one!
" Ah Koo's Hokkien Mee", initially Manage by Abang-Adik but now split business, the elder now running a stall at Burma Road (behind Giant) and the younger brother near Padang Brown where I am having breakfast this morning.
According to Netizens, the Burma Road's branch operators are much arrogant with waiting time at least 30 minutes and Padang Brown's operated by now younger group of people, generally serving to table within 5-10 minutes despite a large queue. Finding table is a challenge for groups, but don't despair as table turn-around is quick. It is hard to not be satisfied with Ah Koo's Hokkien Mee, one of if not the best Hokkien Mee in Penang. It's rm$5.50 regular size, upsized is rm$6.50 and extra ingredient is rm$8. I ordered the rm$8 but not much ingredient added compared to the rm$5.50 regular size! Regardless of size, all hokkien mee bowl comes with chicken slices, prawns, noodles and perhaps the best part was really its intense prawn-based soup. A spoon of extra chili is also available which will guarantee you a good sweat at the end of the meal.
Make no mistake as Ah Koo's Hokkien Mee is a must-go-to place for Penang Hokkien Mee which only operates for 3+hours from 8am every day except Tuesdays. Located at one of the corner shop lot on Jalan Perak which is opposite Padang Brown food court, the shop can be easily spotted as the location is likely packed with customers from 8am opening until its closing time!
