Thoughts: There are 2 shop lots here which are next to each other: Rainforest Bakery & the Mugshot Cafe. The Rainforest Bakery offers variety of bakeries with a more modern and clean deco with the back of the shop for dining in. As the two shops are linked together (in fact same owner), you can order from either shop and have your bread from Rainforest Bakery and Coffee from Mugshot Cafe in either shops depending on what kind of setting you have decided for that day. Both shops are self-service, just pay for what you need from each shop and ask to deliver to your seat anywhere in either shop.
On the other hand, the Mugshot Cafe offers Bagel Muffins, home-made Yogurt (in fact, there is a factory in the middle of the shop that manufactures the Yogurt in-house), also available as well are Smoothies and Coffee. There is an interesting old-style "Pizza" oven that is used to toast the Bagels! Interestingly, if you go all the way to the back of the shop lot of Mugshot Cafe, you will find a spectacles shop; here you can get a new pair of spectacles while having a cuppa from the Cafe!
Mugshot Cafe and Rainforest Bakery are both located along Chulia Street very near to Love Lane. The owner, Jesse Tan who studied business and bakery, first started Rainforest Bakery together with his brother in 2001 in the now 3-storey old building which was previously a hotel. Then in 2013, Jesse decided to open Mugshot Cafe next to the Bakery. In my opinion, Mr Jesse have definitely created one of a kind combinations of several things in a unique 2 shop lot setting next to each other each with a different character, both are perhaps not just inviting for tourist but also locals; although prices of bakery and cafe here are slightly more expensive than other Cafes around town (I think), I personally don't mind having a snack and coffee here!
Nevertheless, as for today's lunch. as Mugshot Cafe is "famous" (according to netizens) for their Bagel, I didn't find it that overly exciting but I did like the home-made Yogurt better!
Conclusion, Mugshot Cafe or Rainforest Bakery, nice places for a cuppa/yogurt/bagel/bread anytime of the day, with your mobile device, I believe you can park yourself at a corner of either Cafe as long as you like.
Not sure if I got the info right, kind of remember the chef who made me the Bagel did mention that 2nd and 3rd floors of the 2 shop lots are hotel rooms, popular for back-packers!
