The first item to savour in Penang is the "杏仁奶茶烏 Almond Tea O" (something rare in Klang Valley) BUT a common hot beverage in I suppose all of Penang Island, albeit in Chinese Kopitiams or Food Courts. BUT by 2:30pm, some stalls already closed or closing for the day as some of them start business as early as 5am or 6am in the morning. 

This bustling food court which is at the same building as the 新港早市菜市巴殺 Bayan Baru Market, and within walking distance to 陽光廣場 Sunshine Square. The food court is probably one of the biggest multi-hawker stalls food court in Penang Island offering a variety of food ranging from 馬來人,華人和印度人小吃攤 Malay, Chinese and Indian food stalls. Chinese hawkers occupy the side of the Bayan Baru Hawker Centre facing Jalan Mayang Pasir 3 (direction towards Sunshine Square) and the spot where you can find shrines to the 拿督公 Datok Kong and other Chinese guardian deities and the spot where many older Chinese folks will hangout from dawn till dust! AND People say that the 峇央峇魯蚵仔煎 Fried Oyster with a 40 years history in Penang is a must try in this food court. The only long queue Chinese food stall at 2pm is the 金鳳燒臘 Golden Phoenix Duck & Chicken Rice Stall which must be good. 
Many Malay hawkers occupy the side of the food court facing Jalan Mayang Pasir 1 & 4 (where Masjid Umar Al Khatab is located). And netizens claim that 扁擔飯 Nasi Kandar by "Restoran Fasal" (previously Pasar Nasi Kandar) is a must try here (still a long queue at 2+pm today); other stalls offers 馬來雜飯 Nasi Campur, 印度煎餅 Roti Canai, 爪哇面 Mee Rebus, 炒麵 Mee Goreng, 馬來蒸飯 Nasi Kukus etc.
I think (could be wrong) many of the Indian stalls are facing Jalan Mayang Pasir 4 or maybe scattered throughout the food court with 印度煎餅 Roti Canai and the rest of the Roti variants, 印度素食 Indian Vegetarian, 印度麵 Indian Noodles, 槟城著名印度鱿鱼炒麵 Mee Sotong, etc.

BUT lunch today is just a rm$5.50 "雲吞湯 Wanton Soup"!
