Thoughts: The Subang Jaya USJ10 branch opened in April 2022, Hwaro BBQ Malaysia is the brainchild of a Korean husband-and-wife couple from Seoul, serving up sizzling slices of scrumptious meat choices of pork, lamb, beef, and chicken. One of the walls also showcases portraits of Korean pop bands like Twice and BTS. The Korean BBQ is on the same row as the still popular USJ10 Uncle Don.
BBQ sets for 2/3pax are available from rm$65 to rm$95 with combinations of Pork + Chicken + Baby Octopus along with choice of Kimch/Doenjang Jjigae Korean soup. ADD-ons include Sausage, Oyster Mushroom, Fried Rice, Cheese as well as a variety of Ala-Carte BBQ Meats of Pork, Beef, Lamb, or Chicken. Other Ala-Carte dishes of Korean rice, noodle, pancakes, and stew dishes are also available. For lunch is the RM23 lunch set specials with ready grilled meats + 5 dishes and lettuce.
Hwaro is Korean for 火爐/火盆 brazier, the pot that holds the burning charcoal for the barbecue with a Barbeque Grill Net to grill the meats choices. This Korean style of coal-fired barbecue is one of the favorite after-work pastime for South Koreans for a grilled dinner paired with a glass of Korean Soju.
Today's dinner is a rm$65 "五花肉+豬肩肉+湯套餐 Sam Gyeop Sal, Mok Sal + Soup SET", the SET comes with 2 types of Pork: 五花肉 Pork Belly (Sam Gyeop Sal) and 豬肩肉 Pork Shoulder (Mok Sal); a stainless steel utility tong and a pair of large scissors are provided for the customer to cut the meat. It also comes with a bowl of Korean style soup of either 韓國泡菜 Kimchi of 韓國大醬 Doenjang bean paste. The 韓國海鮮大醬湯 Doenjang bean paste soup is boiled with at least 啦啦 Lala, 小蝦 small shrimps, 辣椒金 chili, 針菇Enoki mushroom, and 黃瓜 Cucumber.
Rice is not provided (and it is rm$5 per bowl of rice!), but unlimited refill of 生菜和蒜頭 Lettuce and Garlic cloves are provided in a basket. Korean style BBQ is to place a 一片生菜 leaf of lettuce in the hands, sometimes add a small amount of rice and finally add a stack of 烤肉 grilled meats (or 烤海鲜 seafood), topped with a few 烤蒜瓣 grilled garlic cloves, and finish with dollops of 韓國包飯醬 Korean Ssamjang sauce (typical sauce for Korean BBQ). Wrap the whole bite into a neat package and eat the package in one bite!
Also included are 5 refillable side dishes: 魚餅片 Fish Cakes slices, 韓國泡菜 Kimchi, 韓國豆芽 Kongnamool (Korean Soybean Sprouts), 酸黃瓜沙拉 Cucumber salad, and 韓國菠菜配菜 Sigeumchi Namul (Korean Spinach Side Dish). As for beverages, in the menu are Can drinks, bottled wines (or wine in a glass), bottled beers including Tiger, Tsing Tao, and Soju; OR customer can opt for rm$8 refillable self-service soft drinks.
