Thoughts: In the 1970s, there are a few popular Dim Sum restaurants in KL's China Town; for example "玉壺軒 Yook Woo Hin" at 茨廠街 Petaling Street and "錦綸泰 Kum Lum Tai" at 蘇丹街 Jalan Sultan. BUT there are probably many more "Old school Dim Sum" in KL which are still fatefully serving Dim Sums all these years. "玉壺軒 Yook Woo Hin" was founded in 1928, and after 84 years serving Dim Sum to KL folks of a few generations, it succumbed to progress and decided to close its operation in 2012. If you happen to be at 茨廠街 Jalan Petaling, look for no.100, and you can still find the shop "玉壺軒茶室" on the stone pillars of that shop lot.
"錦綸泰 Kum Lum Tai" has a shorter history, and started in 1971 at a shop along Jalan Sultan (not far from 玉壺軒茶室 Yook Woo Hin and both have equal fame and popularity as Dim Sum destination. "錦綸泰 Kum Lum Tai" was very popular for its 叉燒包 Char Siew Bao and 糯米雞 Loh Mai Kai, and it is also the first 1st Malaysian mooncake company to produce 月餅 mooncakes using automation and computerized production process. AND today, "錦綸泰 Kum Lum Tai" offers 麻糬 Mochi, 月餅 MoonCakes, Traditionally and Modern Chinese desserts/pastries and cookies, 醬汁 sauces, and even 冷凍點心 Frozen Dim Sum via online stores like Shoppe. 錦綸泰 Kum Lun Tai or with a new name 來記 Loi Kee, can be found in Kota Damansara's Sunway Giza Mall. AND offering around 40 choices of Dim Sum with prices from rm$6 to rm$12 (mostly around rm$8 per plate). But for lunch and dinner, there are also a good variety of Chinese dishes for a full meal.
