Must try here at "The Cantina" are probably the Pub's Signature dishes which are Char Koay Teow and 檳城炒粿條 Penang Curry Mee. AND today's dinner is the rm$15 "檳城炒粿條 Penang Fried Kway Teow" and probably the best 炒粿條 Char Koay Teow in USJ area. The owner Mr Lim who is also the Chef, cooks up an excellent plate of 炒粿條 Char Koay Teow with excellent "鍋氣 Wok Hey" (not too dry and not too wet) with some 中蝦 medium size prawns, 新鮮鳥蛤 fresh cockles, good mix of 粿條 Koay Teow, 臘腸 Chinese sausage, 豆芽 Bean sprouts, and 韭菜 Chinese chives, and finally topped with 鬆脆豬油渣 crunchy pork lard. A bit pricey compared to kopitiam hawker Char Koay Teow but with definitely richer and super taste. It also went too well with the cold draft beer this evening!
Owned and managed by Christine Teo and business partner Mr. SK Lim who doubles as the pub's chef as well. The watering hole likely has been operating for 12 or more years in USJ9 since maybe 2013/14 and yet it is not overflowing with customers on a weekday today. Although it comes with only a 2-page menu, but the recipe must be the Chef's specialty. A quiet pub to have some good food and a cold beer before hitting the road. The Cantina offers Penang specialties such as Penang 炒粿條 Char Koay Teow, 亞參叻沙 Asam Laksa, 檳城咖哩面/蝦麵 Penang Curry Mee/Prawn Mee, 炒飯 Fried rice, as well as at least 20 choices of Beer bites such as fresh cockles, 炒拉拉 Stir fry Lala, 豬肉薯條 Porky fries, 炸餛飩 Deep fried wanton etc. Limited choices of bottle beers are available but "The Cantina" also offers at least 4 生啤酒 draft beers choices of 老虎啤 Tiger, 吉尼斯黑啤酒 Guinness, 喜力啤酒 Heineken, and 基爾肯尼啤酒 Kilkenny from rm$14.50 to rm$16.50.
