Fun Facts: 新月形麵包 Crescent-shaped breads have been made since the 文藝復興 Renaissance, and Croissants have long been a staple of 奧地利 Austrian, 意大利 Italian, and 法國 French bakeries. 羊角麵 Croissants are named for their historical 新月形狀 crescent shape and bread is made with dough that is layered with butter, rolled and folded several times in succession. The process results in a layered, flaky texture, similar to a puff pastry. Although both the pastries of 法式長棍麵包 Baguettes and 羊角麵包 Croissants are known as traditional breakfast fare in 法國 France. But history records that the origin of the Croissants is an adaptation of the Austrian bread called the "Kipferl" (a yeast bread roll) which dates back to the 13th Century, which became a common breakfast staple in Europe.
