Thoughts: Was here for the rm$12.90 "砂拉越茄子麵(加料) Sarawak Tomato Mee" on the 15 February 2022 (6 months ago) as well as excellent "Gao" Sarawak Kopi C! The Café opens daily as early as 7:30am in the morning where parking near to the Café is still possible. AND today's breakfast is "哥羅麵 Kolo Mee" which is the same price as the Sarawak tomato mee.

The "哥羅麵 Kolo Mee" or "Mee Kolo" is distinctively different from the Peninsular (specifically Central Peninsular's) Wanton Mee which the later is drenched with dark sauce; while Kolo Mee isn't drenched in dark sauce or "water" isn't added to the noodle when served. The WORD "Kolo Mee" is very lightly Hokkien dialect where "Kolo" is DRY (乾撈) and "Mee" is Noodle (麵). The dry-style Sarawak Malaysian Chinese noodle comes 全蛋麵 egg noodles that are tossed in sauce and topped or served with 紅叉燒 sliced barbecued pork (Char Siu), 猪肉碎 minced pork, and 蔥 shallots, and maybe some 炸洋蔥 fried onions; and on the side today is a bowl of soup with 魚丸 fish ball and 豬肉丸 pork ball.
There seemed to be similarity between 客家麵 Hakka Mee and 哥羅麵 Kolo Mee where both are different from the KL 雲吞麵 Wanton Mee while both Hakka or Kolo Mee comes in white sauce usually with minced pork meats, the 乾撈雲吞麵 Dry "Konlo" Wanton Mee comes in sweet dark sauce! There are probably no distinct written history on the origins of "Kolo Mee", but the noodle dish was probably introduced by the Chinese community when they've migrated to 沙勞越 Sarawak, way back during the 英國殖民統治期間 colonial British rule 1800s. This classic staple food is not just common in East Malaysia but also popular as hawker stalls in 多檔小販華人咖啡店 Chinese multi-stall hawkers kopitiams, and not forgetting Kolo Mee specialty restaurants like "林里香 Restaurant Lin Li Xiang" in SS2.
In Sarawak, the Kolo Mee is enjoyed by not just the 華人 Chinese but all races, like the natives of 伊班族 Iban, 比達友 Bidayuh, and the 馬來人 Malays and 馬蘭諾族 Muslim Melanau even came up with the halal variation which uses 烤雞 barbeque chicken instead of 叉燒 Char Siew. While the Kolo Mee maybe offered at rm$9.50 at this Cafe, it is sold around rm$7 - rm$8 in Chinese Kopitiams. HOWEVER, in Sarawak Kuching; a bowl of Kolo Mee can be found to be still between rm$5 to rm$6 (but may cheaper in rural areas), and the simple and relatively cheap meal choice makes it a popular noodle dish among 砂拉越人 Sarawakians and 沙巴人 Sabahans!
Another item worth sampling for breakfast is the Cafe's 沙勞越炒麵 Sarawak Style Mee Goreng; seen served today at the next table which smelled really good.
