Thoughts: Balok (probably not considered as a district in Pahang), but it is quite the perfect spot to explore Kuantan's fascinating cultural sights and attractions with many popular beaches like Berserah beach (Pantai Berserah), Batu Hitam Beach (Pantai Batu Hitam), and Cherating Beach plus quite a few Beach Resorts hotel like the 4 star Cherating and Swiss-Garden Resort hotel. It is about 10km south of Kemaman and maybe 10km north of Kuantan (Capital City of Pahang).

Connecting 關丹 Kuantan - 巴洛 Balok - 甘馬挽 Kemaman is the trunk road of Jalan Kemaman-Kuantan which is maybe around 50km. And along this trunk road of Jalan Kemaman-Kuantan are many villages (Kampung), such as this one "甘榜丹絨 Kampung Tanjung" which many 馬來小吃攤 Warung and 馬來餐廳 Malay restaurants along the North-South trunk road or more such eateries off the trunk road inside the Kampung area where only the locals know where the best 東海岸美食 East Coast cuisines are located.
Today's breakfast is at Warung Lala, about 300m+ south of Swiss-Garden Resort, and its a vegetarian rm$5 Simple "蘭花飯 Nasi Kerabu (Herb Rice)". Probably a popular breakfast offering in many Warung or Restaurant anywhere in East Cost. It is probably incomplete to not have Nasi Kerabu while in the East Coast BUT some say there are no two servings of Nasi Kerabu that is the same depending on the Chef. The most striking feature of this dish is the pleasing blue rice colored naturally with Bunga Telang (藍色/蝶豆花 Blue/Butterfly pea flower). Today's rm$5 Nasi Kerabu is that pretty 藍花飯 blue rice, with mixed of 蔬菜絲 shredded vegetables (ulam), 鹹蛋 salted egg, and I think 椰絲叁巴 sambal kelapa dan 三巴醬 sambal cili topping the dish.
The rm$5 vegetarian "蘭花飯 Nasi Kerabu" is probably the basic variant, but 炸雞 Fried chicken, 內臟 innards like 肺 Paru etc and maybe 咖哩雞 Curry Chicken, 牛肉 Daging are available. I believe "Warung Lala" also offers 椰漿飯 Nasi Lemak, 馬來雜飯 Nasi Puteh Berlauk, 印度煎餅 Roti Canai, and 馬來未成酒的熟糯米膏 Tapai (Green sticky rice) is also common snack item in East Coast. The Zinc roof open air Warung was surprising clean, with the usual cats roaming under the tables, a typical sight in most Malay restaurants in the East Coast.
