Thoughts: Along the 45+km Jalan Kuantan-Kemaman trunk road are lots of Malay restaurants and Warung, some of them just on the road side and many of them off the trunk road where only locals would know where the best East Coast cuisines can be found.

"Keropok Lekor Oh Fatimah" opens in the evenings except for Mondays where it also opens from 9am, it is probably the nearest eatery to Swiss-Garden Resort (just across the street). Here, it is not just 炸魚條 Keropok Lekor, 烤三角魚團 Sata or 炸香蕉 Goreng Pisang (Banana Fritter); but a variety of Seafood from 螃蟹 Crab, 魚/魷魚/蝦蘸麵粉 Ikan Sotong Udang Celup Tepung (Deep fried Fish/Octopus/Shrimp Dip in Flour), 馬來菜 Masakan Panas (Malay dish), and also the popular 關丹臭豆烤魚 Kuantan Ikan Bakar Petai (Stinky bean Grilled Fish)! PLUS there is also a Burger stall which only opens night time that offers Burger with 雞肉 Chicken patty, 牛肉 Beef, 羊肉 Lamb, 鴕鳥肉 Ostrich, or 兔肉 Rabbit meat that can go with either the 圓形包 normal round bun or 長方形包 oblong bun, all from rm$4 to rm$10 (Biasa to Double).
The rm$5 "馬來炸魚條 Keropok Lekor" was both affordable and yummy, with real fishy crackers (not fakes ones with lots of flour). The word "Lekor" is said to be derived from a Terengganu Malay word meaning "To Roll". The East Coast Malay snack is usually made by grinding fish into a paste, mixing it with 西米 sago and then 油炸 deep-frying it. "Lekor" comes in three main forms: "Lekor" (long and chewy), "Lekor Rebus" (蒸熟 steamed) and "Lekor keping" (薄脆 thin and crispy).
Today's dinner is a rm$6 "兔子肉漢堡包 Ramly Burger Arnab (Rabbit) Special", beautifully grilled and wrapped with an egg sandwiched in a lightly toasted bun. No complains, and went well with the specially "Tarik kuat kuat" Teh Tarik! The Burger stalls operates in the evenings until mid-night except for Monday and Wednesdays)!
Highly recommend if you are holidaying at the Kuantan Swiss-Garden Resort and craving for some local east coast food rather than the hotel food.
