For the love of cooking, 福喜堂 was founded by Susan Low and her husband Huey Hiew and has been in Taipan for 7 years since 2014. The couple believes in serving healthier style of cooking with 少鹽 less salt, 少糖 less sugar, 少油 less oil, 少味精 less ajinomoto, and 少碱性水 less alkaline water for their recipes. The restaurant is at the second floor, right above 海鷗 Hai-O herbal shop. Immaculately decorated and designed from the entrance to its interior. Like stepping into a chinese movie set or perhaps something from the 1930s 上海景色 Shanghai theme of the Old China. There is even a Karaoke stage and if no one in singing on the stage, like tonight, there will be those old school songs playing in the background.
Here, you can find vintage chinese household items of old mugs, kettles and old soft-drink bottles on the shelves. Almost every corner of the walls are adorned with an amazing collection of posters of those old "Color Fading" Chinese advertisement posters. And those Black and White Chequered floor tiles also complements the striking pink, blue, and yellow walls.
For this first visit, more than satisfied with the food today and will definitely be back to USJ10's 福喜堂 FoxxyTong again for the good food and an interesting dining experience!
