Food Thoughts: Morning breakfast at Hatinie's, starts as early as 7am but most breakfast items are fully ready around 8:30am. One thing I did like about Hatinie is that it organises different kinds of food items at specific sections of the restaurant. Immediately walking into the restaurant is the Indian bread section on your right and satay on your left. You will find also a small area for Be Hoon, Mee Goreng, Kuay Teow; the usual fried noodles typical of any shops anyway. For East coast cuisines, the front section offers Nasi Dagang at one booth, then Nasi Kerabu in the next booth with the final booth at the corner serving Nasi Lemak. Nasi Kukus will be serve towards 11am for the lunch crowd replacing the Nasi Lemak. Inside the restaurant will be starting with Laksam section and Soto, and another section for some choices Malay desserts. As early as 8am, the Nasi Campur "lauk" dishes, East Coast cuisines and varieties curisne starts to roll out from the kitchen as well to the central area of the restaurant where a buffet style table is stationed.
My choice for today's morning breakfast is the Laksam which I have been hearing about it and craving for sometime now. The warm soup was in a thick gravy form, much like mushroom soup except for its taste; too bad the laksam (which looks like chee cheong fun) was already air-cooled when served. The final garnish to the "gravied" laksam was the laksam sambal which is probably mixtures of something like grined sambal, cucumber, cabbage, maybe lemon grass and bean sprouts; definitely not your usual nasi lemak "red spicy" sambal. That laksam itself which looks like our chinese chee cheong fun except it is much stickier, thicker and heavier in taste than chee cheong fun, is likely made of rice flour and corn starch. That's why a morning meal of Laksam as breakfast is likely very filling.
Review: 👍😋
