品粥 Tasty Porridge offers that style of Porridge which is "粵式粥 (Jook) Cantonese Porridge", which is cooked until silky smooth, creamy, and usually very thick gooey texture. The rice is pretty much completely disintegrated after hours of boiling to form the classic Cantonese Porridge. Compared to the Teochew Porridge 潮州粥 or 'Teochew Muay or Mui' is a type of rice soup similar to the Chinese congee but in a non-gooey and non-mushy way. Compared to the Cantonese-style congee, it has a waterier texture and the rice is still visible in a bowl of Teowchew porridge.
Another difference is that 潮州粥 Teochew Porridge is usually served with a variety of side dishes which are not cooked in the porridge but separately ordered. Cantonese style Porridge like the 生滾粥 (Sung Guan Jook), where the final gooey textured porridge are then cooked with a variety of fresh meats like 生魚片 raw fish, 牛肉 Beef, 豬肉內臟 Pork meats and innards, 蠔豉 oysters, 魷魚 squid, 皮蛋 thousand year old eggs, 鹹蛋 salted eggs, 田雞 frogs etc.
