Thoughts: After a short My Khea beach walk around, and before Day 1's dinner, its an evening tour of Da Nang's famous Dragon Breach.
Day 1 Itinerary:
02:00pm arrival at Danang International Airport
02:30pm 峴港五行山 The Marble Mountains (Water Mountain)
03:30pm 峴港大理石店 Dai Viet Co (World of Gems), Marble Handicraft Sculptures & Embroidery Arts Shop
04:30pm 峴港靈應寺(山茶半岛) Lady Buddha at Linh Ung Pagoda
06:00pm 峴港美溪沙滩(東方夏威夷) My Khe Beach
06:30pm 龍橋(峴港的地標) Dragon Bridge
07:00pm Dinner 越南料理 Vietnamese Dishes
08:30pm Check in at White Snow Hotel
So, this evening stop before dinner is just opposite "Da Nang Riverside Hotel" which is the Hotel the tour will spend the night on the 4th day. I think its called the "DHC Marina" or "EM1 or M1 Group Marina", the Marina show case an interesting statue of "Tượng Cá Chép Hóa Rồng Đà Nẵng" or 龙鲤 (Dragon Carp Statue). First impression, it did look a little like the "Merlion" Lion Statue in Singapore's Marina Bay; however, a closer look shows a Dragon head with a Carp body!
At the Marina, its the "Lover's Bridge" with lots of red-colored heart shaped lighting ornaments. The rails are filled with little locks.
But the start attraction that can be seen on the left of the Marina is one of several bridges which joined the Peninsular part of Da Nang (My Khea beach etc) to the Inland. Its called the famous "Dragon Bridge", which is also one of the longest bridge in Vietnam. The bridge was constructed with a shape of a dragon with dazzling light displays of different colors at night time. The Dragon Bridge started construction in 2011 and was officially opened in 2013 after a two-year-long construction, commemorating the 38th anniversary of Da Nang City’s liberation.
Throughout the first day from the Airport to the Temples and the Marble/Gem shop, dragons seemed to be everywhere! This isn't a coincidence as according to local beliefs, which date back to the Ly Dynasty, the dragon is a significant symbol of power, nobility and good fortune.
