Thoughts: おまかせ Omakase or "留给我吧" means "Leave it to the Chef"! There are no menu for the Omakase, the Chef presents to you what he/she has prepared for the meal course.
The Omakase is the following;
2 Appetizer
1. French Briosche and Baguette" with Onion butter.
2. Appetiser "Bukharonies" tiny salty fish (fingerling fish) with mint on a melon.
7 Main Course
3. Irish Oyster gramitar (shaved ice).
4. Nori canolini.
5. Ankimo (monk fish liver) topped with compressed apple and yuzu gell and bottom honzu soy sauce.
6. Spanish squid & ratatouile with cream vedu sauce.
7. Serano ham cubes (spanish cured ham) with slow cook organic egg & potato floss.
8. Seared atlantic cod fish with coffit patato and yellow tumeric foam.
9. Poached chicken with roasted chickrn consomay (clear soup).
2 Desserts
10. Orange pannacota (italian) with whiskie ganash and roseberry.
11. French Butter and French PatteFui.
Interestingly, the "Japanese" Omakase presented here is very much Western influence, with ingredients from French, Spanish, and Italian (as explained by Chef Eugine).
The Omakase of 2 appetizer, 7 course meal, and 2 desserts took about 2 hours as each item is offered sequentially. Different utensils or none (to be savored by hand) are provided for each item presented! Today I was the only customer made reservation for the Omakase.
Golden Shower by Chin Chin at Bishop street is the 2nd branch after Chin Chin Gastropub at Lintang Burma. However, there are 3 more new branches CREAM by Chin Chin, Quickie by Chin Chin (3 months ago in Gurney), and Tender Bar by Chin Chin (recently openend)! A total of 5 Chin Chin locations in Penang. The later 3 ventures by Chin Chin seems to be offering more of a fine dining experience rather than just pub and bar. Hopefully, the owners of Chin Chin will think about some ".. by Chin Chin" in KL soon.
