Thoughts: According to the 新加坡國家環境局 Singapore National Environment Agency. Today, more than 110 hawker centers (熟食中心) across Singapore island, and there are plans to construct even more to better cater to the Singapore population.

麥克斯熟食中心 Maxwell Food Centre wasn't a Food Centre 90+years ago when it started as a Wet Market way back in 1929! The land on which the market was built had once been a 華人墓地 Chinese burial ground which was cleared in 1907. It was only in 1925 that the road next to the future market was laid and named 麥克斯路 Maxwell Road. The history of this location from a not too popular Wet Market, then 潮劇表演 Teochew theatrical performances were staged during the annual 中元節 Hungry Ghost Festivals was an interesting story. It is not until finally in 1987, Maxwell Road Market was officially turned into a 麥克斯熟食中心 Food Center. Since then, it has become a popular place for traditional Chinese hawker foods.
