Thoughts: Opened in 1971, 裕廊飛禽公園 Jurong Bird Park is (was) Asia’s largest bird park, offering a 20.2-hectare hillside haven for close to 3,500 birds across 400 species, of which 20 per cent are threatened species. The bird park is famed for its large and immersive walk-in aviaries such as Lory Loft, Jungle Jewels and the Waterfall Aviary. Other unique exhibits include Penguin Coast and Pelican Cove. Committed towards conservation, the bird park is the first in the world to breed the 馬來亞黑犀鳥 Malayan black hornbill (1995) and the twelve-wired bird of paradise (2001) in captivity for which it received the Breeders’ Award from the American Pheasant and Waterfowl Society. AND after 50 years of, in 2021, the group announced that the park's successor in Mandai would be named 鳥天堂 Bird Paradise. In 2022, it was announced that Jurong Bird Park would close on 3 January 2023 to finalise its move to Bird Paradise at Mandai.
