Thoughts: 烝飯 Nasi "Kukus" (steaming) and when it is served warm, right from the wooden bucket is probably still one of the best 椰漿飯 Nasi Lemak choice; and really difficult to go wrong with it. And what more, for rm$5 it is difficult to complain; the plate of warm Nasi "Kukus" topped with the usual 黃瓜片cucumber slices, 江魚仔 ikan bilis (fried anchovies), 花生 kacang (nuts), 煮雞蛋 boiled egg, and generous amount of 參巴蘇東 Sambal Sotong.

Probably not intended for Nasi Lemak, the "Nasi Kukus" Originating from the 馬來西亞半島東海岸 East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, specifically 吉蘭丹 Kelantan, 登嘉樓 Terengganu and 彭亨 Pahang. It is a traditional Malaysian delicacy characterized by its distinctive 蒸米飯 steamed rice which is meticulously cooked in individual 鋁碗 aluminium bowls over 大蒸籠 large steamers where each aluminum bowl is good for one serving; the rice is usually served piping hot with a mix of flavorful 咖哩 curries and 配菜 side dishes. The Nasi Kukus is usually paired with 印尼辣咖哩醬 Gulai and fried chicken (辣炸雞 ayam goreng berempah or 炸母雞 deep fried ayam dara)! Nasi Lemak kukus is just another excellent idea of offering the steaming rice choice as a Malaysian favorite.
