The Taiwanese-style bread counter "吧台料理 BarCook Bakery" is based in 新加坡 Singapore and started from a small kitchen in 芳林大樓 Hong Lim Complex in May 2008 as a business idea initiated by the founders Mr Sim, Mr Steven Ng and a few other co-owners. Today, this homegrown bakery has eleven outlets 新加坡 Singapore Island as well as two outlets above in 吉隆坡 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The signature breads are baked daily in the BarCook kitchen are of "中種麵糰發酵法 Sponge Dough Method" (popular in Taiwanese style bread) which takes longer time to make compared to "基本甜麵團直接法 Sweet Dough Method". It is said that the "Sponge Dough Method" breads makes the bread smell better, taste better and also last longer without refrigeration; and even if you leave the bread out for six to eight hours, it won't turn hard. The bakery also uses 生燕麥 raw oats, 葡萄乾 raisins, 亞麻籽 flaxseed, 南瓜籽 pumpkin seeds, 全麥粉 whole meal and 葵花籽 sunflower seeds for their bread; something welcome by the health conscious Singaporeans and Malaysians alike.
The signature rm$4.30 "葡萄乾奶油芝士 Raisin Cream Cheese" bun and the rm$5.40 "朱古力牛角包 Chocolate Croissant" sampled today were not too bad.
