Thoughts: Established in June 2006, Nyonya Colors is a 新生活方式咖啡館 new  lifestyle Café that offers your authentic 娘惹美食 Nyonya cuisines and Malaysian favorites. The Café was founded by a husband and wife team who both share a strong passion for 正宗的土生華人美食 authentic Peranakan cuisine. Originally started as a take-away outlet known as "Little Cravings", Nyonya Colors has since expanded into a full-fledged dining Café serving quite an amazing range of 娘惹糕 Nyonya Kueh, 小吃 snacks, Malaysian favorites, as well as Dessert "糖水 Tong Sui". 

"網煎餅 Roti Jala" is probably not a Nyonya dish! The name "Roti Jala" or "Roti Kirai" or "Roti Renjis" (English name is either "Net bread" or "Lace pancake") where some say it is of "Indian Origin" and others claimed it is from "Indonesia" or a "Malaysian dish". According to Wikipedia, it is a popular 馬來 Malay and 米南加保 Minangkabau 早餐或下午茶點心 breakfast or tea time snack served with curry dishes that is served in 婚禮 Weddings (Kenduri) and 慶祝活動 Festivities. The dish can be found in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore especially in Malay restaurants. "網煎餅 Roti Jala" is a pretty dish, and looks like a "網 Net" folded into 黃色的小圓柱 little yellow cylinders, typically serves with 咖哩 curry or 咖哩雞 chicken curry as the dipping sauce. 

The Malaysian story is that the 馬來人 Malays, being originally 漁民 fishermen and living by the sea, found inspiration for the snack from the nets they used for fishing, thus the name "網煎餅 Roti Jala". It is also called "Roti Renjis", which means "Rinsed Bread", because of the original way it was made, which was by hand, in which the ingredient would be 'Rinsed' onto the pan to be cooked. The ingredients for the "Net Bread" consist mainly of 麵粉 flour, 雞蛋 eggs, 牛奶 milk (乳製品 dairy or 椰子 coconut), and a pinch of 薑黃 turmeric. "Roti Kirai" is another name in which "Kirai" refers to the circular motion of the hand when pouring the mixed ingredients from a condensed milk can with tiny holes poked through it, resulting in a "Net like" form on the hot pan, the "Net" is then folded into small 圓柱形 cylindrical shapes. 

Nyona Colors's rm$12 "網煎餅 Roti Jala" comes with 5 pretty yellow pieces along with a thick curry and two pieces of chicken meat, a satisfactory snack dish.
