According to its website, the brand’s catchy name is derived from the Malay word "Memang", which means "真的 Truly", and "Meow", which piques people's "興趣 Interest and 好奇心 Curiosity" (like a CAT) in finding out who they are. The shop concept is inspired by the typical Malay pondok exuding the "回家鄉 Balik kampung (Go back Hometown)" vibe and inviting urban dwellers to come and "游荡 Lepak (Loiter)" at the outlet. That said, "Memang Meow" perfectly encapsulates the essence and passion of the company in providing the most excellent local food for all Malaysians in town which is the "椰漿飯 Nasi Lemak"!
The Café offers 椰漿飯 Nasi Lemak, 豬腸粉 Chee Cheong Fun, 釀豆腐 Yong Tao Foo, 冬炎炒粿條 Kuey Teow Tomyam Goreng, 關東煮 Oden in 快熟麵 Maggie/烏冬麵 Udon/伊麵 Yee Mee and interesting varieties of cold drinks (like "煎蕊和椰糖浆配紅豆 Cendol and Gula Melaka with Red Beans!), from price of rm$5.90 to rm$12.90.
Breakfast today is the rm$5.90 "椰漿飯 Nasi Lemak and 拉茶 Teh Tarik", a typical nasi lemak with warm coconut flavored rice, topped with "又甜又辣 sweet and spicy" 叁巴醬 sambal sauce, plus 半個煮雞蛋 half a boiled egg, 黃瓜 cucumber, 花生 nuts, and 炸鳳尾魚 fried anchovies; 拉茶 Teh Tarik was a little too sweet for my liking.
