Thoughts: Dec 13th's rm$12 "泰式沙拉卷 Thai Salad Roll Thai Salad Roll" from "Street Thai Food", a food kiosk in SS16's Empire Shopping Gallery was positive, although it was slightly expensive. Today's afternoon snack item is the kiosk's rm$10 "泰國芒果糯米飯 Thai Mango Sticky Rice" which comes with 3 cubes of green colored (班蘭 Pandan) 糯米飯 sticky rice, maybe half a 芒果 mango plus 椰奶 coconut milk as dipping sauce.
芒果糯米飯 Mango sticky rice is commonly associated as a 泰國 Thailand 街邊甜點小吃 dessert street food. And the dish is consumed mostly in the 泰國東北部 northeastern part of Thailand. In Thai language, Mango sticky rice is called "Khao Niao Mamuang" ("Mamuang" is 芒果 Mango while "Khao Niao" is 糯米飯 Sticky Rice in Thai language respectively). This well known and some say is a must eat "Thai dessert" if you are ever in Bangkok, like this one called "Mae Varee Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango" in Thong Lo Road in Bangkok! The dessert is made with 糯米 glutinous rice, 新鮮芒果 fresh mango, 棕櫚糖 palm sugar and 椰奶 coconut milk. Although originating in Thailand, it is consumed throughout the Indochina region of 東南亞 Southeast Asia, including 老撾 Laos, 柬埔寨 Cambodia, and even 越南 Vietnam. And since northeastern part of Thailand shares its borders with 老撾 Laos, it makes sense that sticky rice is a 老撾的國民主食 Laotian national staple.
SS16's Empire Shopping Gallery has become a popular food destination for Subang Jaya residents with a good selection of F&B outlet; from Cafes to Thai cuisines, Korean, Balinese, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Taiwanese, Indian food, Western, Vietnamese, Nyonya, and Malay cuisines; definitely spoiled with choices. There are at least 40 eateries here, and some of them open as early as 8am.
