Thoughts: The "BenQ ScreenBar Plus" maybe one of the "BEST reviewed" screen bars out there BUT it comes with a price from rm$650 - rm$800+ from Shopee or Lazada. Then, there is the "Xiomi Mijia LED ScreenBar" which is also at rm$180 - rm$200+ price range. There are probably many brands out there, this one is 倍思 Baseus from Shopee. 倍思 Baseus is a Lifestyle Brand from China that makes 消費類電子產品 Consumer Electronics under the 深圳市時代創新科技有限公司 Shenzhen Times Innovation Technology Co. Ltd.
I am not sure how many models of "Screenbar Lights" that 倍思 Baseus offers. But this particular model comes with the "青春版 Youth version" and the "奮鬥版 Fighting/Pro version". I believe there are the same specifications but the main difference is "Touch operation for the "青春版 Youth version" and "Mechanical dimming knob style" for the "奮鬥版 Fighting version". The box comes with a small sheet of "Warranty paper" as well as "Instructions menu", a USB-c wire for the power, the Screenbar itself, and some Cartoon Stickers. Very good packaging with the parcel shipped directly from China which comes in 4 days after placing the order at Shopee.
This Screenbar Light was easy to setup; it really just sits on top of the monitor BUT the "Clamp" to the back of the monitor is quite heavy therefore using Gravity to hold the unit down from the top. The aluminum body is powered by a USB-C cable. The "Fighting or Pro version" also comes with a "Stepless adjustment" to change the colors of the light (by pushing and holding continuedly on the on/off knob) changing the color from 2900K to 5000K (or from Standard Cool White to Bright White to Warm colors). And by turning the knob, the brightness is adjusted. And looks like this model also remembers the setting after switching it off!
The Baseus Screenbar Light takes up nearly the entire width of the 24" Huawei Display leaving just enough space for the Logitech C310 webcam. And since the C310 webcam can only be tiled up-down and NOT left-right, the webcam has to sit at the remaining corner of the monitor top!
The Light Source is said to be "Asymmetric" and to understand it; there are 2 types of light distribution, that is the "Symmetric light distribution" and the "Asymmetric light distribution". "Symmetric light distribution" basically distributes light evenly to all directions and I think the common fluorescent light used in larger rooms like the living room or dining hall are using "Symmetric type". While "Asymmetric light distribution" is ideal for concentrating the light beam in one direction where it can be an efficient solution for offices, as it does not produce direct glare that can cause eyestrain with protracted exposure. I believe the asymmetric light output is exactly what was described above where light is directed sideways hence when the Screenbar is mounted on the monitor; the light does not project to the screen monitor resulting in no glare AND the rest of the light just focus to project onto the table area in front of the monitor hence creating a good light source for the key work area where the keyboard, mouse, some reading or writing is required. This type of "Asymmetric light distribution" is probably good for the home office setting. Item today: 8 / 10 👍👍👍
