Thoughts: Advertised to offer at least 70 items of Sushi, Temaki, Onigiri, Sushi Rolls, Japanese desserts and maybe more, with starting price of rm$1.10. Customer can choose from 4, 6, or 8 to go into convenient Sushi-to-Go trays (box). This is the new Sushi King Kiosk is in USJ20's Petronas Petrol Station. The Petrol station already offered KFC for many years, and 壽司金 Sushi King open its latest Kiosk next to KFC sometime in the middle of September last month. As of today, another section of the "Mesra shop" is being renovated for more retail choices.

The 壽司金 Sushi King brand itself is created in Malaysia but its founder Tan Sir Dr Fumihiko is from the 七尾市 city of Nanao, 石川縣 Ishikawa Prefecture in 日本 Japan. The Japanese Tan Sri's mission was to be the number one Japanese restaurant chain in Malaysia, serving quality and provide value for money Japanese meals to Malaysians. Sushi King is operated under the 餐廳事業部 Restaurant Division of the "德建集團 Texchem Group of Companies" with its HQ in Taman Perindustrian Subang (near USJ14). 德建集團 Texchem Group is also into 聚合物工程 Polymer Engineering, 工業 Industrial, and 食品 Food related operations. Sushi King was once, especially 15-20 years ago, one of the very few go-to Japanese restaurants for Sushi on conveyer belts. But in recent years, many local operators have started their own little chains of conveyer belts-based Sushi restaurants in 巴生谷 Klang Valley. Examples are like 寿司明太 Sushi Mentai, Sushi Zens, or 和食 Washoku (all in USJ9 and USJ10).

Suffice to say, Sushi King must be proud to be the first to introduce the 回転寿司 KAITENZushi (傳送帶壽司 conveyor belt sushi) in 1995, and is also probably Malaysia's largest Halal Japanese restaurant chain with over 100 outlets in the country and counting. In 2019, there were 137 Sushi King restaurants in the country, which includes 25 outlets in Sabah and Sarawak. Many of the 壽司金 outlets are located in popular Malls in the country but high rentals in some of these prime locations were causing closure of some of these unprofitable Sushi King outlets. The 疫情 2020 pandemic have probably further affected many of its conveyor belt sushi restaurants, that is perhaps exactly why the company have moved into the strategy of the Sushi King Kiosk to provide more convenience and quick take-away option for their Sushi and Japanese food products.
