Thoughts: With 16 stalls operating for the morning and lunch session: 怡保河粉 Ipoh Hor Fun, 亞三叻沙 Asam Laksa & 爪哇麵 Jawa Mee, 燒臘雞飯 Roasted & Chicken Rice, 馬來椰漿飯 Malay Nasi Lemak, 薄餅 Popiah, 客家麵 Hakka Mee 沙勞越麵 Sarawak Mee, 蝦麵 Har Mee, 豬腸粉 Pork noodle, 釀豆腐豬腸粉 Yong Tao Foo & Chee Cheong Fun, 雲吞麵 Wanton Mee, 苦瓜湯 & 蓮藕湯 Bitter Gourd and Lotus Root Soup, 炸雞飯 Fried Chicken Rice, 板麵 Pan Mee & 伊麵 Yee Mee, 金寶魚蛋粉 Kampar Fish Ball noodle, 炒粿条 Char Koay Teow, 飯糰和娘惹糕點 Onigiri plus Nyonya Keuh stall. There are a lot to choose from in USJ17's 2-corner shop lot "新永順茶餐室 Restoran New Weng Soon Jaya". The Kopitiam has also allowed Dine-in since before September and offers at least 13 tables (maybe 70% of its table capacity, although it still isn't packed as before and I think customers still opt for Take-away instead of Dine-in. However, next door Mamak shop "Sri Melur Jaya" still is not ready for Dine-in and until today still for Take-away only! USJ17's "新永順茶餐室 Restoran New Weng Soon Jaya" is convenient for USJ16 and USJ17 folks with a lot to choose from and finding parking usually isn't a problem.

Today's rm$6.50 "蝦麵 Har Mee" is acceptably good for my liking, with a good thick and tasty 蝦/豬骨湯 prawn/pork bone based soup. I think 豬肉片 pork slices, the "小黃蝦 tiny yellow Prawns", 煮雞蛋 cut boiled egg, 蕹菜 kangkung, 豆芽 bean sprouts, lots of 香脆炸蔥 crispy fried shallots, and 一勺叁巴醬 spoonful of sambal.
Fun facts: there are 3 distinct types of 福建麵 Hokkien Mee found in 馬來西亞 Malaysia and 新加坡 Singapore and there are all very different:
檳城福建麵 Penang Hokkien Mee (with Prawn broth based) often called 檳城蝦麵
新加坡福建麵 Singapore Hokkien Mee (Stir fried egg/rice noodles) often called 新加坡蝦麵吉隆坡福建麵 Kuala Lumpur Hokkien Mee (Dark soy sauce fat yellow noodles) often called 福建炒麵 or Hokkien Char
In KL kopitiams, "檳城福建麵 Penang Hokkien Mee" is always referred to as "檳城蝦麵 Penang Har Mee or Prawn Mee" to avoid confusion with the 吉隆坡黑醬油福建炒麵 KL Black soy sauce Hokkien Mee! The Penang Hokkien mee is a 東南亞 Southeast Asian (新加坡 Singapore and 馬來西亞 Malaysia) dish but has its origins in the cuisine of 中國福建省 China's Fujian (Hokkien) province. In Penang, 檳城福建麵 is sold by hawkers (in many Chinese markets) and street vendors, this noodle soup is popular throughout the day (there are some which opens as a 午夜晚餐 mid-night supper). Some of the famous Penang 福建麵 shops or stalls only open for few hours and is always crazily packed with customers.
In the early 1800s, people who lived in the southern region of China were facing troubled times; including the 反明起義 rebellion against the Ming dynasty, the 英國鴉片戰爭 British Opium Wars, and the 太平天國運動 Taiping Rebellion. These 內患 internal conflicts and threats from external 戰爭販子 Western Warmongers encouraged 福建人 Hokkiens to seek work 下南洋 South of China in the 錫礦 tin mines in 泰國普吉島 Phuket, or further south in 大馬霹靂州 Perak. In the mid 19th century, more 難民 refugees arrived directly from China especially to Malaya's 檳城 Penang bringing with them the comforting noodle soups of their homes which are the 蝦麵 Har Mee and 滷麵 Loh Mee. So, the "蝦麵 Har Mee" arrived in Penang Island for more than 150+years, known today in Penang as “福建麵 Hokkien Mee,” or “福建蝦麵 Hokkien Prawn Noodle”. The noodles recipe is a thin broth of simmered 蝦頭 shrimp heads, 蝦尾 tails, and 豬骨 pork bones with 洋蔥 onions and 大蒜garlic, and 辣椒醬 chili paste. The broth is served over the noodles with 煮雞蛋 hard-boiled egg, 熏五花肉 smoked pork belly, even fried mantis shrimp, local 蕹菜 water spinach (kangkung), and some stalls also offers 雞爪 chicken feet or 腸 intestines. A bowl of “福建蝦麵 Hokkien Prawn Noodle” plus a glass of 熱杏仁奶茶 hot almond milk tea is one of the best choice of a local breakfast to start the day in 檳島 Penang Island.
