Thoughts: The 5 year plus Cafe, previously was called "Kneady Baker" but later somewhere in 2018 changed its name to "Front Room & the Kneady Baker". The 咖啡麵包店 Café Bakery probably has been in Taman Desa since 2016! "Front Room" is just 150-200m off Old Klang Road on-route towards Taman Danau Desa. It is located within the same row of shops that houses another Café "Wild Sheep Chase" (permanently closed last year June 2020, as the couple Chris and Sujian have decided to focus their efforts on their other outlet "Wild Sheep Home" in PJ's section 17). Nevertheless, "Front Room & The Kneady Baker" is located at the second floor above a 烘焙用品店 baking supply shop "GRAM" previously was "海記興化飯店 Hoi Kee Heng Hwa restaurant".

Fun Facts #1: The 百吉餅(貝果麵包) "Bagel or Beigel" was documented as an invention in the 十七世紀後期 late 17th century , interestingly it was invented by a 猶太麵包師 Jewish baker in 維也納 Vienna, 奧地利 Austria AND as a tribute to the 波蘭國王 King of Poland who led forces to save 奧地利 Austria from 土耳其入侵者 Turkish invaders. The 猶太麵包師 Jewish baker, aware of the Polish King's love of horses, shaped the yeast dough into a circle resembling a "Stirrup" (a light frame or ring that holds the foot of a horse rider) and called it a "Beugel".
Fun Facts #2: 貝果麵包 Bagels arrived in the United States in the late 19th Century courtesy of 猶太移民 Jewish immigrants from 波蘭 Poland. Around 1900, the "百吉餅早午餐 Bagel brunch" became popular in 紐約市 New York City. The "Bagel brunch" consists of a bagel usually topped with 熏鮭魚 Lox, 奶油芝士 Cream cheese, 刺山柑 Capers, 番茄 Tomato, and 紅洋蔥 Red onion. This and similar combinations of toppings have remained associated with Bagels into the 21st century in the US. In the early days of Bagel making, it is a labor intensive and back breaking hours in uncomfortable conditions BUT 自動化 Automation and prepared time-saving bagel bases quickly making Bagel a popular business opportunity and has become a popular tasty treat in America. As the Bagel quickly spread around New York City, across the United States, and was soon adapted in various forms and styles across US cities and around the world. The idea of a bagel in its modern-day form is still native to New York City, particularly the 猶太社區 Jewish community there. There are 2 basic methods of Bagel making, one is 煮沸 boiling it and another is 蒸 steaming them before baking the bagels in ovens. Indeed, one of the uniqueness of 紐約貝果麵包 New York Bagels are that there are boiled in 鹽水 salt water (to get the Bagels smooth crust)) before baking in the standard oven and 布魯克林人 Brooklynites believe their 紐約貝果麵包 New York Bagels are the best due to the 當地水質 quality of the local water.
Fun Facts #3: The 奶油奶酪 Cream Cheese is an invention by a Mr. William A. Lawrence, 奶農 a Dairyman in 切斯特 Chester, 紐約 New York in 1872 and even started 量產 mass producing it in 1873. In the US, 奶油奶酪 Cream Cheese probably can be found in the refrigerator of every household and often used as a spread on 麵包 bread, 貝果 bagels, 餅乾 crackers, etc., and used as a 蘸薯片 dip for potato chips and similar snack items, and in 沙拉 salads. Cream cheese became popular in the 猶太美食 Jewish cuisine of 紐約市 New York City, where it is commonly known as a "schmear". It is also used on bagels and is the basis of the bagel and cream cheese.
Fun Facts #4: a typical plain Bagel is USD$1 or less (rm$4) in 紐約市 New York city, but most people would at least have a Bagel with Cream Cheese which will be around USD$3 (rm$12). With other toppings and depending on the location in New York City , a "Bagel Brunch" will probably set you back between USD$7 to USD$24 (rm$28 to rm$96).
Today's breakfast is the slightly expensive rm$26 "紐約貝果 New York Bagel special" (but I think 物有所值 value for money and efforts by the Baker), and topped up rm$6 for an excellent 拿鐵 Latte. First, the Latte is the best I have had since before May Lock-down. The "紐約貝果 New York Bagel special" is a hearty meal and is probably kind-of-like-a "貝果早午餐 Bagel Brunch" that comes with a 墨西哥胡椒貝果 Jalapeno Bagel (I believe other Bagel variants are available) with generous amount of 奶油奶酪 whipped cream cheese; the bagel here is cooked using the boiling water technique before putting in the oven, it was chewy, flavorful and a little bit of crusty exterior, I think the slightly zesty hot Jalapeno infused into the bagel was perfect. The sides includes the beautifully 炸到剛剛好的脆培根條 deep fried crunchy bacons strips plus generous portion of 柔軟完美的美式炒蛋 soft and creamy scrambled eggs. Two thumbs up for this combinations.
No worries for parking at Taman Danau Desa (under DBKL) which currently still FOC. Thanks to Pete (the Barista) for making an 很棒的一杯拿鐵 excellent cup of Latte, and the Chef-Owner Miss Jo (if I remember correctly) for the excellent Bagel brunch meal! The Café isn't too big but definitely cozy with a lot of decorations at almost every corner of the Café. The Café comes with 2 long tables (for maybe 4 people), 3 tables with 2 chairs, 1 table facing the glass window facing the kitchen, and 1 sofa with a low table. AND Today's "紐約貝果 New York Bagel special & 拿鐵 Latte", both food and service was beyond expectations.
From netizens, praises including the Cafe's "拉豬肉三明治 Pulled Pork Sandwich", "酪乳華夫餅 Buttermilk waffles", "豬肉披薩 Pork Pizza", and "椰糖班蘭蛋糕 Gula Melaka Pandan Cake", and a few more. Definitely looking forward to "Front Room" for another breakfast or brunch when opportunity arises.
